EDTA, citric acid, sodium gluconate, sodium lactate, sodium citrate I have never used any of these in my soap and just ran across this on chelating, interesting, so I take it that salt is not the same. My question is when to use this or is there a time not to use it or just personal choice?

I always put my soap in the freezer for about an hr or more.

Your soap is to hot when you mold it or the lye is making it hot after you mold it. I also would think that it cracks on top When that happens to me I have a piece of 1/4 in ply wood or anything stiff and clamp it to the top of the soap Put a piece of plastic or something that is non stick...

I usually use around 40% lard give or take 10% and I render my own. I'm not sure how possessed store lard is.

I make a coffee soap for hands but I have not made it with off the shelf lard. I still think I'll wait for fat from the butcher shop.
