    It’s never too early....

So....I’ve been playing with felting for a couple of months. I ordered some different wools from several different suppliers, and am absolutely tickled with this Corriedale wool that I found online at Laughing Lamb Fibers. I’ve had this vision in my head since I learned about felting soap, and...

    Beach Soap

I made my first beach soap after being inspired by toxikon’s earlier post about additives to make soap look like sand. Not all too happy with my sky (too dark and too much white), but very happy with my water and sand!

    BeScented

ive had really good luck with everything I’ve ordered from BeScented, and right now she has a bunch of FO 1oz samples for a buck apiece... just placed an order. She’s also got her Honeysuckle FO on special for $10 for 16oz bottle. I’ve not us d it before, but just ordered some of that, as well...

Rookie needle felting on rookie felted soap.

Got some time to play today. I have so much to learn about this, but think I might enjoy it as I try to get better at it.

    Rookie Soap Felting

Tried my hand at felting my reject batch of hidden hearts. Holy cow, this takes some finesse! I need a lot more practice, but I’m happy with my first time. When they’re dry, I think I’ll try some needle felting on these blank canvases! There’s just never an end to what you can do with soap, is...

    Zebra Glam Knockoff

I knew my granddaughter would fall in love with this soap from Amanda @ Lovin' Soap Studio's YouTube video so I tried to replicate the design. I scented it with White Tea & Pear from Nurture. I have a feeling that I'll be making more of this in the future for my little diva!

    My first Drop Swirl

What I intended to be a mossy green morphed into a 1970's sea foam green that I hate, but I like the actual swirl. I've been looking to try techniques unfamiliar to me, and can't believe I'd never tried this before. I'm going to make another stab at it with colors that I like this time. Ugh(!)...

    The Kitchen Sink

My Wet Soap Wednesday soap that I posted on Wednesday got cut yesterday morning and I loved the delicious caramel color that I found on the inside. Woke up this morning to decadent fudge!

    Live from SoapCon 2017....

Spent a wonderful day of listening to and learning from Zahida Map (Handmade in Florida), Jackie Thompson (author of "Liquid Soapmaking: Tips, Techniques, and Recipes for Creating All Manner of Liquid and Soft Soap Naturally!"), and Dr. Kevin Dunn ("Scientific Soapmaking"). I'm waiting for my...

    Lard at Restaurant Depot

I just scored a 50lb cube of Armour Lard at Restaurant Depot for $31.07USD. So much cheaper than the 4lb buckets I'm used to buying! I'm not sure how I've ever missed this at RD if they've always carried it. Other fats and oils there I've not been that impressed with, but I feel good about this...

    Faded Memories

So.....my soapy mistake that I posted about the other day, where I cut my mantra swirl soap vertically instead of horizontally, turned into such a pleasant thing for me. It is scented with Pink Sugar, which discolors, but to me it looked antiqued in some way. Then when I was beveling it...

    Summer Skies

After my epic fail with my mermaid soap yesterday, I had to make myself feel better by posting a new soap I made that I actually like. Marble mantra swirl scented with Cobalt Beach Glass from WSP.

    Cowhide

Finished up my cowhide soap today. It will do for a test run, but I really want to nail the look of this as a signature soap for our farm. More design tweaking to be done. This was made with beef tallow from our own Highland cattle, and scented with "Old West" from MMS. I'll be trying a...

    Essential Depot

Just placed an order at Essential Depot for stuff I needed. They're running a 50% off entire website special through July 5th. I'm a member of their Greener Life Club ($5/mo) so also got my 20% regular discount on top of that, plus a free 5 lb cube of shea butter (can get 1 per month with any...

    Thank you, Toxicon!

A little over a month ago you posted a favorite recipe: Lard - 50% Olive Oil - 25% Coconut Oil - 20% Castor Oil - 5% Lye Concentration - 33% SF - 4% (not sure if this was you or me as I can't remember the thread I got your recipe from) I finally got to use a 5 week cured bar last night in the...

    Dremel 3D printer came yesterday!

While this is nowhere near my final soap stamp, I had to try it with a rough draft just to see if it's what I had imagined. I have so much more to learn, but am happy with my first go at it! Never mind the cracks in the soap from the stamp....this was a month old bar that I just had to try...

    Oil Weight Cheat Sheet?

Not sure if this is the right place to pose this question..... Does anyone know if there is a comprehensive listing somewhere of the weights of oils and butters used for soaping? I feel like there should be one somewhere and I just can't find it.
