WSP sale - what are you getting?!

I just soaped with cool water a week or so ago. Just like JayJay, the non-colored portion turned a pink/burgundy color. I do like how they smell, but I don't have another supplier to compare it to.

WSP sale - what are you getting?!

I have 50 shades and Sea salt & driftwood on the way. I picked up true lilac, blueberry lemon verbena, butt naked and angel my last order. Just finished soaping with blueberry lemon verbena and it accelerated something fierce! I had to plop into the mold. Smells good, something about it reminds...

Help fixing salt bars and something else

These are great tips! Thank you all for your help. I have enough from this batch that I will grind some up to add to another recipe, and give some a nice long cure and see how it turns out. I had the TD out for the cool water soap, then thought how white the lard bars normally turn out and...

Help fixing salt bars and something else

Thank you for your advise! I will make another coconut soap with that recipe and see how it goes. I thought I timed cutting these better than my last salt bars. It was probably about 2 hours when cut, still broke apart. I will get it one of these days. When I make the next batch to mix the...

Help fixing salt bars and something else

Hello all, I normally punch in all my numbers into soapcalc on my computer, for these salt bars I used my phone. Maybe it was the small screen and no keyboard, but the screenshot of the recipe shows a 0% super fat. I didn't catch that until the soap was made. 23.46oz water 11.73oz lye...

    Lumpy Castille soap

Hey there, When I first started soaping I picked up 4 or 5 fragrances from Michael's. I thought I was doing something wrong because each of them went to a very lumpy mashed potato state within about 20 seconds of adding the fragrance. Hasn't happened since with FO from a good supplier that...

    Soaping to music

I listen to Pandora like a lot of others. On shuffle of old outlaw country, 50's and 60's oldies/rock, TOOL, Disturbed, System of a down... Mostly old country though.

    Lizard rescue

It sure does look like a type of skink. We see red tailed and blue tailed skinks in California.

    IPA soap

Thank you for the quick replies! This Ethiopian powder is sold for brewing that lends a hop aroma. I thought maybe make a tea or something, but I can't see any aroma surviving in the finished product. I just priced out the co2 hop oils. I'm sorry to hear they didn't work out, but glad I...

    IPA soap

Hello all, Over the weekend I made a couple of soaps, one being an oatmeal stout beer soap that turned out pretty nice (pic attached for proof ). This got me thinking of my favorite smells while brewing beer, HOPS! I love the juicy grapefruit, piney, and dank notes. Does anyone have...

Third batch. First attempt at color and fragrance.

I had a feeling the color wasn't intended for cp soap, but it was color that was available at that moment. I will be ordering colors online very soon. I was excited to see the color change! Chameleon soap... it will be interesting to see if it morphs into something else.

Third batch. First attempt at color and fragrance.

Thank you! The soap batter was pepto pink. After gel it was this nice purple color. I didn't want to spend too much on color for my first go at it, so i grabbed a pack of red/blue/yellow from hobby lobby made by Life of the Party. I wasn't even sure if it was designed for cp soap, it looks like...

Third batch. First attempt at color and fragrance.

Hello everyone! After 2 batches I decided it was time to try color and fragrance. I was feeling brave and was going to try a swir too (I laugh now). I think I should have of stuck to one new step in the soapmaking process, not two. As soon as I added the eo it went straight to a very thick...

    Hello from Brentwood, Ca

Thank you all! This was 72% evoo, 20% coconut oil, 5% castor, and 3% cocoa butter. I thought that would be a simple enough recipe to start to get my process down. It was really fun going through all the steps. I didn't know about another Brentwood either lol. When you get back into brewing feel...

    Hello from Brentwood, Ca

Thanks not_ally! Now I get to play the waiting game while they cure. Yep, the sf bay area. I can't wait to get the process down so I can play with colors and fragrance.

    Hello from Brentwood, Ca

Hello everyone, I am excited to join a great group of people here! I have been a passionate home brewer for a long while now. This all started when a friend gave me a home brewing book and a bucket to ferment in, now we're making up to 23 gallon batches. This same friend gave me an oatmeal...
