Fingers crossed for my first milk soap!

Thank you! Good to know. I have never stopped gel before...over a year soaping and still learning!

Fingers crossed for my first milk soap!

I'm coming back to this thread to ask a question. My goat's milk soap is still too soft in the mold to cut. With the exception of replacing my water with goat's milk, this is a recipe I've made several times and cut in 24 hours. I did put these loaves in the freezer to prevent gelling for 24...

Fingers crossed for my first milk soap!

Great...thanks for sharing the soap wisdom! I'll skip the sieve next batch!

Fingers crossed for my first milk soap!

Really? I thought using a sieve was standard operating procedure for milk soaps to prevent curds in the oils?

Fingers crossed for my first milk soap!

I haven't posted here in quite some time. I started soaping maybe about 18 months ago. I went crazy and made lots of small batches. This year I'm focusing on Christmas gifts and it's exciting to choose which recipes I liked best last year and focus on reproducing them. But I can't resist...

    Share your 2016 Soap plans!

Haha! I've been on a quest for mythic hero plants since two summers ago when my husband and I moved into the house we live in now and I discovered how **** HUNGRY the deer around here are! I only planted flowers according to how much I liked them and I ended up planting a lovely deer salad bar...

    Share your 2016 Soap plans!

I started soaping in 2015 and I've settled on some basic base recipes that I like and people to whom I've gifted soap tell me they like. When I was just beginning I discovered that if really helps me to have a plan--without one I started trying no less than 4 new ingredients/techniques with...

    Labels are haaaarrrddd!

Thanks for the kind words! In my professional life I'm in marketing..I hope I bring a little of that knowledge to bear in labeling. If even not for sale, just for appeal. These are going into gift baskets along with some bath bombs I made and some homemade canned goodies my sister made (sweet...

    Labels are haaaarrrddd!

This was a giant pain in the rear. I officially hate labeling. BUT--thank you all for your suggestions...it made the process that much less sucky! I ended up using resume paper because I was running out of time and just had to find something that would work. :)

    Labels are haaaarrrddd!

I'm cutting labels with my rotary cutter today. It's working much better. :)

My first attempt at caning with soap

Really cool. I'm about 8 months into my soap journey and I cannot fathom taking on a project like this. Amazing work.

Do you cut the craft paper to fit in your printer? I'm cutting from a roll the size of a roll of wrapping paper...

    Tattoos

I needed to resurrect this thread and share my new ink. This is my second tattoo--the first was about 17 years ago. I've always wanted more. I'm nearing 40 and feeling a little braver about doing things I want to do. :) This is on the inside.of my right wrist...

    Labels are haaaarrrddd!

I didn't think they would be! (Disclaimer: I don't sell --these are for pretty gifts only, I know they don't meet requirements) I made these with craft paper and Avery clear labels. The label is too tall. I'd like the top to be just below where the straight edge of the soap turns to...

I really like the green! It looks like a Van Gogh painting!!

Where did all my soap go!

I'm labeling about 55 bars for Christmas gifts today (I don't sell). They are all my best bars and after Christmas I'll be close to wiped out. I'll still have some bars from my first few batches, which are fine, just not as pretty as my more recent ones. I've gotten a lot better at decorating...

    Shampoo Bar - Thanks Lindy!!

I have naturally VERY curly hair and I've been using my 100% coconut oil (20% superfat) for shampoo with an ACV rinse and it really enhances my curls. But I have found over the years that there is no one thing that works best for my hair 100% of the time. I think what works for my hair is to...
