cmzaha-BHT huh? Hrmmmmmm that I will have to do research on-where do you get it? Didn't see it at my regular spots!
Did a testing batch (1 lb) with .05% ROE yesterday to let it age and see any changes (did a straight batch too for a side by side). Will have to wait months for that result...
Arthur: No Kroger here :(. I suspect the high humidity in my area is partially to blame, but as I'm the only lard soaper in my local circle I'm playing the guessing game...and eliminating variables!
Carabou: Checked four Walmarts so far and no snowcap. Publix doesn't even carry lard (?!)...and...
One thing with the "volcano"-my 100% olive oil soap didn't volcano at all... but my 15% coconut oil soap does have that , and the 100% coconut oil soap almost wore my arm out stirring to keep it in the crockpot! It depends on your receipe.
My worst volcano incident was when I was gabbing on...
I've pretty much disregarded the brand names that everyone uses for lard up until now when a post in another thread got me thinking...every now and then I get a batch that dos's for no apparent reason (same everything as a previous batch of that scent). That's a royal pain if I don't know when...
Well, since I couldn't find any answers as to why when I logged in the forums just went to solid white pages, I found an alternate way of getting in-new account!
So, nsmar4211 is now TryAgain :).
I think I had withdrawls... :)
I went back and checked to see what coffee fragrance I used that held. It is actually from Fragrance Buddy, "Capuchino Espresso).I used it at 1oz of fragrance per pound of oils and it holds very well (although I do HP...). Matter of fact, at six months it's still just as strong. It does turn a...
1.2 ounces of FO to 2.5 pounds of soap? That is lower than what I use....
If your other FO's are things like lemongrass that are really strong, that concentration may work but for what I use, that's about half....what other ones did you use previously?
Out of all of the soap places I use, Fragrance Buddy had the best deal. 25% off and free shipping over $100.
Guess who got my business? :)
10% off just isn't enough for me to stock up on stuff.....
My email:
We hope you are staying warm and spending time with your friends/family.
This...
My camera was not capturing the soap well :(. The colors are more vibrant in person. I ended up doing a pseudo hp/cp batch so I could attempt swirls (I normally do HP), obviously my technique leaves much to be desired LOL.
Oh, and I forgot the FO until AFTER I had already put everything in...
I don't get "grapefruit" out of my Sea Island Grapefruit tester at all after 10 weeks, just went and checked it. More like candy sour fruit, and light at that. If you're looking for grapefruit, I wouldn't use it.
A quick sniff test (achooooo) of what I've done so far finds many of them faded...
I'd do a swirl and only scent the part of the batter that you intend to be the brown swirl...then maybe do a blue swirl on the rest?
I don't have any recipies, sorry!
Just as a sidenote, the Monkey Farts I use from Fragrance Buddy has a minimal, if any, discolor when I use it in HP :).
Darn, should've gotten in on this one :(. Put me in for the next batch! My current DB turns the soap a reddybrownyblacky color...and I'm not liking it after 4 months...
No answers but wanted to say good luck. I can't imagine 5 dogs passing as service animals....
Can either of these ladies drive? What about renting a car?
