    Check this out

Chrissy, Seems a bit vague on the blend part, how are you supposed to know how much lye to use? I have no idea what the cost of oils are there, but it also seems a bit pricey compared to oils here in the states. I dont think I would even consider it, could be a disaster waiting to happen.

    Saltbar Soap

Judy is right about cutting this soap pretty quickly, it will get too hard to cut if you let it go too long. Before I got individual molds for my salt bars, I would cut it as soon as it was semi solid, it was very warm at that point. A few times I used a liquid color, and dropped the color on...

    Using Wilton Silicone individual/muffin pans

I have used the silicone muffin type molds for over a year now, I never put them in the oven, just cover them to keep them warm. I love the ease of release from the mold. If only every mold I had was as easy to release, no need for oiling them, to wash up put them in the dishwasher. I just...

    Something fun without F/E oils?

Chai tea will give you some exfoilating effect and the spices in it will give you some fragrance. I just mix in the dry tea at trace, about 4 tea bags ppo. The smell is great while the soap goes thru gell but seems to fade while curing, but when you use it the spicey smell is there.

Please help ASAP!!!, HP disaster in the making.....

Did you use a stick blender to take the soap to trace? Once you get trace you can leave the soap til it finishes cooking and looks kind of transparent. Usually within an hour or less. The soap will be somewhat solid then it will bubble up from the edges and consume the solid part and it will be...

    92* vs 76* coconut oil?

Are there any advantages to using one over the other? I need to order some more coconut oil and there is only a dollar difference in price for 50#.

    Remelting and EO's

Peppermint eo is notorious for that burning feeling, especially if you use soap that has a high amount in it on a sensitive area. Don't ask how I found this out.

Is this normal for a soaper ? :P

I think it's normal, I have 6 in the shower, 8 in soap dishes on the bathroom sink, and 4 or 5 at the kitchen sink. I have chased my daughter around with each new batch saying smell this to the point that as soon as she walks in the door and I've made a new batch she asks, what kind is it now...

I got a slab mold and some individual molds, I've been using them the last couple of days and they are wonderful. I really like the slab mold, when you pop out the slab there are score lines to cut by which gives you perfect sized bars. :D

    Using jewel weed in soap

I made jewelweed soap back about a month ago, infused the water and the olive oil with the jewelweed. It was a pretty green until it gelled, then turned into a peanut butter color. I did my normal superfat of 5%. Recipe was olive oil 41%, Coconut oil 31% Palm kernel oil 28%. Soaped at low...

Can I rebatch some soap to make a salt bar?

Even though I haven't tried it yet I have a recipe that uses about 50% by weight of the soap you want to rebatch added to a new batch along with 50% salt. I will probably do this sometime this week since I have a bunch of trimmings from the soap I made last week. Since my trimmings are from...

    Soap without lye?

If she had liquid soap, it was made with potassium hydroxide, by still lye.

    I'm so tired of hearing....

I've heard that old tune a lot, but if you can ever get them to try your soap, then you have them hooked. I had the same thing with my dad, only Ivory, now he's finally using my soap, although he's sticking it to the ivory so it floats in the tub, go figure.

I think I might have found the perfect coconut

The coconut I got from Saveonscents must have a vanilla component, because every batch has turn beige to brown. The smell is great, but I don't like the fact that I can't keep the color light enough to match the scent.
