    Stearic Spots

DeeAnna - the first link on your reply is the one that looks the same as my soaps. I have been soaping at 100 degrees then upped it to 105 but will try 110-115 tomorrow. A very big "thank you" to everyone for your responses - as usual you are all amazing. xx

    Stearic Spots

I'm having loads of problems with Stearic spots in my soaps no matter what I do. I use shea at 18% and having trawled through everything I can read on the internet I feel that this is the culprit. My recipe is 18% Coconut oil, 45% olive pomace, 12% sunflower, 18% shea and 5% castor oil. I am...

    Nasty white streaks and spots

Thank you for all your thoughts and questions. I've double double checked everything and absolutely nothing at all has changed. Same suppliers, same batches of oils and butters, same lye, same water, same room and fridge temps. Every single thing is the same. So it must be me. Time to try...

    Nasty white streaks and spots

Sorry for the late response but had to babysit grandaughter. I've zap tested both the white bits and the ordinary bits and there's no difference - no zap at all. I've tried washing them off too but to no avail, they are still there. Yesterday I had convinced myself it had to be either the EOs...

    Nasty white streaks and spots

Would have helped if I'd said all that in the first message, sorry! The recipe is 17% coconut oil, 6% caster, 47% olive pomace, 12% sunflower, 18% shea butter. Water is 32% discounted (hope that's the right term). Everything is run through soapcalc. At light trace I add the equal measures of...

    Nasty white streaks and spots

I really would appreciate some help with the problem I'm having with white steaks and spots in my rose soap. I've mad nunerous batches of it over the last 6 months and everything has been fine till now. The first picture shows the horrible streaks etc and the colour is decidedly wrong. So I...

    Royal Jelly

Hello, Has anyone ever used Royal Jelly in CP soap? I'm interested in having a go but before I chance my luck and end up with an unmitigated disaster I thought I'd be better off asking first. Thanks

    Mica problem

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. I've now done three small tests with three different mica amounts to try to get the right amount sorted out. I often wonder how I filled my day before I took up soap making! Many thanks.

    Mica problem

Hello, I've been playing about with micas but have encountered a problem. I've done two batches with different amounts of purple mica. First batch I added 3/4 tsp of mica to 226g/8oz of batter. Second batch I added 1/2 tsp to 226g/8oz of batter. I did the same ratio's with yellow...

    Nettle and green clay?

I read that nettle powder added can help with cleansing for oily skin so I thought it might go well with the green clay. I'm going to add the powder rather than do an infusion. I wish my order would hurry up and arrive so I can have a go with it. I'll let you know how it turns out. Many thanks...

    Nettle and green clay?

Hello, Has anyone made a French green clay and nettle powder soap? I've made a clay one and its really nice but I've not put the two together. I'm waiting for my nettle powder to arrive so I can't try it just yet. Your advice/thoughts would be great. Thanks.

Hello again, Thank you everyone for your responses, as usual you are all amazing and have helped me understand this subject much better. I've made four batches after I posted my plea for help. For the first three I used a 32% discount and the first and second batches turned out great. They...

    Water Discounts

Hello, Thank you for the two responses. I started thinking about water discounts when I was looking at the MMS site and the range they give for water amounts. So then I began gathering as much information as I could and began to think that a discount might help with the unmoulding. I've...

    Water Discounts

Hello, I've been reading everything I can find on the subject of water discounting but before I try any experiments could I please ask your advice. One of the many recipes I've experimented with recently (last batch was mid November) which seems to be working nicely so far is: Olive...

My CP recipes - advice please!

Thank you for the salt water soap suggestion, I am going to give it a go. I didn't get the chance to do some test batches last night but I've got all day today so I'll have a bash at that one too. I've been making soap now for 6 months and loving it to bits but it does have its down side - I'm...

Hello, I'm new to CP soap making and am utterly addicted and utterly confused! I've been using two recipes and would really appreciate your advice about them as I am now doubting everything I'm doing! I use Soapcalc for the water and lye amounts, in fact I follow Soapcalc to the letter...
