    Runny lotion help

Hi everyone It literally has been years since I was last on this forum I think. I recently returned to the old hobby and I am wondering a few things. I make a lovely almond lotion recipe. Recently I have felt the need to make the viscosity a little runnier (is that a word?). Ideally I...

    Tea in M&P soap

The other day, I wanted to make a rooibos and aloe soap. I put the rooibos teabags in super hot melted soap. The teabag steeped right into the soap. It worked out really great and I used the hardened teabags after I fished them out of the melted soap as a facewash teabag for about 3 days...

Need a trick for doing different colors on decorative soaps

I use a syringe that I get at the drugstore - I usually buy the biggest one they have (30ml). For the fiddly bits - I usually mix a little liquid soap in the melted MP, this keeps it runnier and stops it from clogging up the syringe. It's also easier to scrape/wipe away the stray overfills...

    Oxide disaster

Here is what I did to get this red: Uploaded with ImageShack.us I mixed a tiny bit of red oxide and strawberry pop mica from TKB Trading in a teeny bit of glycerine. I melted clear MP base. I added a touch of titanium oxide - to clear soap. I made a bar of the white TD soap...

what would you sub in, if you could not get SLSA powder

H-E-L-P - I desperately need to find a supplier of SLSA in South Africa OR I need your help finding a suitable, high foaming substitute for it - to make bubble bars. I just read an article about SLES as opposed to the older, cruder SLS. Would you recommend subbing in SLES instead of SLSA...

How to make clear M&P white?

    Charcoal experiments

Does anyone know if charcoal bleeds in MP soap? I made B&W soap before but I cant remember whether I mixed the charcoal with some black colourant - anyhow the whole top of the soap is black now - so now i am wondering whether it was the charcoal? Does anyone ever use activated charcoal on...

    Oh Bumbling Bubble Bar

I am so frustrated - I just cannot seem to get the bubble bars right. They are always way to sticky and squishy. I saw that someone on the forum a while back had beautiful green and white swirled bubble bars - I hope you can help me figure out what I am doing wrong I followed Southern...

    1st attempt at bath bombs

Hi I experimented with bath bombs for ages until I got it right, but even now - every now and again I have a little flop. I noticed that on humid days - it is almost impossible to get nice sooth looking bath bomb, cos the mositure in the air starts to make the mix fizz a teeny bit and then...

teehee - Oven process (Edited to add cut pix)

Jenny - I did it CP style until trace, then put the pot in the oven until ready - then glopped it into the mould, it didnt turn out perfectly smooth - but it's otherwise really fun and easy to do!

    Speed Up the Curing Process

I just did an Oven Process for the first time tonight. All the soap guru's say that it is ready to use immediately - but super best to use if you leave out to dry for 2-4 days! I reckon that's a good way to speed up the "cure". I dunno, I'm gonna see how mine turns out. It is soaping up good...

teehee - Oven process (Edited to add cut pix)

I tried Oven process for the first time tonight - and I'm liking it - okay so it is not as smooth and runny like and in truth - the top looks kinda funky but I think I might add a little more liquid at the end of the cook next time to see if it helps - maybe some goats milk or coconut milk...

Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate vs everything else

Right so I have been trying to find a chemical supplier of Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate in South Africa and no one here seems to know what I am talking about. So I figure that it is highly improbable that this very popular foamer everywhere else is just not available here and I am also figuring...

    Lush-type Jelly soap

Thanks for that Tanya - I think I might try some tonight - except that I dont have any agar agar. Do you think gelatine in Mp base would work?

    Lush-type Jelly soap

hmmm Scout Do you think we could make it up from Agar agar (I think that's what Carageenan Extract (Japanese Kanten) is or is similar to) and powdered SLSA? Maybe a liquid coconut oil soap to which Agar Agar and SLSA is added to give it, its jellyness? I know from those japanese bean jelly...
