    Using St. John's Wort Oil

Correct Marina, you will not get pink bars - it normally turns into a dull, olive-like green - I have tried it a few times. I am not at all sure if it even holds its anti-viral and anti-inflammatory qualities while going through saponification. Personally, I found St.Johns Wort's oil most...

    SoapCalc is under new management

What a pity - I have used soap calc almost exclusively. So sorry to hear about the owner's health problems. Thank you all for your helpful suggestions.

    Slow Tracing Recipe

Thanks everyone for your input. Since I do not use Lard, I tried this recipe and the small amount of castor really does make a difference to lowing trace. 1. Coconut Oil, 76 40% 2. Castor Oil 2.5 % 3. Olive Oil 42.5 % 4. Almond Oil, sweet 10% 5. Avocado Oil 5 % Totals. 100 %

    Rancid Oils disposal

I checked repeatedly for a thread with this concern. Does anyone know how to dispose of oils that are rancid - or just plain OLD? I have remnants of olive, canola, various herb infused oils and I need to get rid of them - without damaging the environment. Please?

    Glycerin in cp - accidentally

So glad this worked out for you - could we have a picture, please?? Afterthought: Maybe the safest way to ensure that a soap is not lye-heavy is to actually test it with ph strips - anything from 8-10 should be ok (it will further become milder while curing).

    Alkanet for Colouring soap

Hi Kim, it is difficult to comment since you do not list the entire recipe. 50mg of added oils to the traced soap should not make a big difference to the consistency of the soap - it also does not do much for the color. I have made Alkanet soap having infused the entire olive oil content...

    Hand made soap tools?

Hi Joni, I agree with all of the above suggestions. We all started with minimums. I started with Pringle cans, lined with freezer paper (very important to avoid contact with the aluminum lining) and after 24 hours, you can peel the can off, starting from the top. Otherwise, you can get most...

Help please. I’m new and rubbish.....

I agree with lsg -please learn from scratch how to make soap. The videos by 'THE SOAP QUEEN" or "SOAPING 101" - or similar - are a must for beginners. Someone said you are putting the cart before the horse- I agree totally. Take time to experiment with simple and safe recipes so that you...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Good Luck my dear - may the soaping force be with you;) Battled with yet another "pink" soap - using just Rose Clay, lately they turned out either too dark or just plain beige. Any suggestions for a beautiful pale pink in CP would be much appreciated. It's for a baby girl shower.

    Post your happy

Earline, yes I do - I found it much easier to make loofah with CP soap, also depending on the kind of loofah you have. Cutting the loofah can vary enormously. If you have the really hard version of loofah, you cannot cut it with scissors. I found it easiest to soak the loofah in warm water...

    Post your happy

I am happy that I made 2 big PVC pipes of Loofah soap yesterday - unmolded today and they actually look good (!!! ) though still rather soft. Always, when making Loofah soap, I need to wait at least a week - or 2 -before I can cut - or should I say SAW - the individual pieces. So we shall see...

    Rosacea: Help!!!

Hi lucythecat - I know you posted this several years ago, but I make a rosacea soap for two people and with good result. I would be happy to give you the recipe. In the basic recipe I use app.5% Rosehip oil and I found that Rosemary in all its forms plays a big role in reducing the flaming...

Use of Dragon Blood Resin powder

Using Dragon's Blood in CP Soap This link by soaping101.com should be of help:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4zxHj3aOy8 The narrative mentions that Dragon's Blood resin has it's own scent, therefore no additional scent is needed. Also, the artificial fragrance easily available is nothing...

Will Hemp oil nutty smell fade away?

Hemp Oil smell Yes, indeed the smell does fade. I have used Hemp Oil up to 50 % and have no problem with scent/odor. Just the color - green - is very much in evidence. I also scent hemp soap with either Tea tree oil or with Sandalwood or similar woody scent to complement the oil.
