    We have a WINNER!!!!

Yeah I will be doing the challenge but not the swap. I don't like sending out uncured soap. I know the recipients are soapmaker, I also would like to see how the first swap works out.

    Mini crock pots

I have thought many times about grabbing one of those, they are always in second hand stores. I haven't bought one because the crock is not removable. I just keep thinking they are impractical.

What soapy thing have you done today?

They also have a pretty good regular price on citric acid. I tried to get some ca from them it said in stock and when I went to put it in the cart it said not available. I was hoping i could grab a bunch while it was 50% off but no such luck.

Slow tracing recipe with lard as majority oil

I will say one thing about false trace. I have had false trace but it didn't last long at all. I was soaping too cool and poured cold lye solution in and blended it immediately into thick trace. Then it heated up and loosened up. I think that is maybe false trace? Ok more than one thing sorry.

    Naked soap comparision

I would like to play along too, I am going to have to write myself a reminder so I don't forget.

    " Black Friday" ?

Wow. That is lame. I wasn't expecting much from them but 10% off gift certificates for cyber monday. I was hoping a good sale might make me like them again.

Individual molds for HP Salt bars?

I really dislike the shape of the square. The rectangle and oval feel much nicer in the hands. I feel the square is awkward to hold without cutting.

    " Black Friday" ?

They won't change anything until after 9am pst. I hope it is a decent sale not just their usual monthly sale I have been waiting for.

    Lather

I don't do alot of mp but I think adding extra oil will suppress lather. I could be completely wrong here.

    Shower Steamers

Thanks for the heads up. I have never tried it. I just happened to stumble across it on YouTube. Very good to know.

How to Clean up After a Spill in kitchen

I do routinely clean my hardwood floors (all surfaces really) with a very dilute lye solution. I mean like a tablespoon per bucket of water. It is really amazing for cleaning. I do all my house cleaning with lye, vinegar, borax, rubbing alcohol, baking soda and washing soda. Sometimes I use...

    Transparent Soap

I thought I read here somewhere that someone uses all their scraps and makes transparent soap with it. They heat and mix in alcohol. I am sure I am missing steps, I tried to find the post and had no success.

    Jelly soap MP question

I have never used jelly soap but i would think it would melt easily. I think the mp would have to be very cool. You could just try one to see for yourself.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Boy can I relate to that^^ I have been in bed with a sinus infection. I'm the only one in the house that actually does them. I have mount dishmore spreading from the sink to the counter. I was going to do my soap challenge tonight but that can't happen without any space to work.

    Best Thermometer

I use both types. For tempering butters i do perfer my old fashioned candy thermometer. I like this because it clips right to the pot and i can keep an eye on it. For most other things I use the point and shoot type.

    Transparent Soap

I find it can be more difficult and more time consuming than cp or hp. Unless i am pouring simple embeds. mp has it's own different set of challenges.

    Shower Steamers

I just saw an interesting recipe for shower steamers that had plaster of paris in it to keep it going longer. There was a 2 pt baking soda to 1 part citric acid to 1 part calcium sulfate (plaster of paris). No oils just eos at 4% and wetted with witch hazel. wrong information

    Methods to speed/slow trace

I have used a slow tracing recipe with a mild accelerating fo. Mix up each layer separately from the main batch scenting right before pouring. Then move to the next. By the time you are ready to pour the next layer it should be set up fine. My favorite fo for this method is bbs crisp anjou pear.
