    Doggie Soap (cold processed)

That's what the recipe I found said to use. The recipe posted is what I made not @KiwiMoose. You can adjust the amount of castor to your liking.

    Doggie Soap (cold processed)

I made cedarwood doggie soap but because info was so conflicting I haven't used it on my dog. If I post the recipe would you give me your input? Do you sell your doggie soap?

    Doggie Soap (cold processed)

Thank you. I've done all this. Why I came here...one site will say peppermint is safe, another says it isn't. Same for cedarwood. Believe me, I am a researcher ad nauseum but when you can get a definitive answer you turn to other soapers hoping they can help.

    Doggie Soap (cold processed)

It's hard to do testing on a dog when the testing could cause harm. That's why I was hoping to get input from other soapers who may have made doggie soap. Not asking for recipes but thought others would at least know what eo's are safe and what the usage rate is. I've made two test batches but...

    Sugar Scrubs and Fragrance Amounts

    Thank you so much. 🙂

    Sugar Scrubs and Fragrance Amounts

Then in soap, scrubs or whatever calculations should be based on total weight of all ingredients? Water evaporates in soap so if you use full water in the calculations the fragrance could be concentrated after the cure. In scrubs or lotions you wouldn't have that. Is this correct?

    Sugar Scrubs and Fragrance Amounts

Oh gosh...please explain cause I'm not getting what you're saying? I've always been taught fragrance is based on total oils only in soap. Finished weight?? Then you're including the lye and water? What do you mean fragrance load in reference to IFRA??

    Sugar Scrubs and Fragrance Amounts

Thank you both so much. AliOop now I get it. I'm a little slow...😅. Good info and I'll screenshot this so I remember next time. I was trying to figure out what to do to decrease the scent. I actually split the batch into 2 scents. I didn't even think about making another batch...duh. My recipe...

    Sugar Scrubs and Fragrance Amounts

I mostly make soap so I'm not getting the math for the scrubs. Aren't scrubs category 9 same as soap? A wash off product. In soap you'd calculate on the total oils only and based on the IFRA % I normally use 1oz per lb of oils or .0625%. So you usually use 2% of the total volume as long as it's...

    Sugar Scrubs and Fragrance Amounts

My misunderstanding. Ok, so if I have a total volume incl sugar of 30.20oz and my IFRA is 4% how much would you use?
  13. C

    Sugar Scrubs and Fragrance Amounts

Well, I wouldn't use a random 2%. I would use the IFRA amount of the particular fragrance I'm using. That should always be the guideline to use when calculating fragrance oils. So, if I have a total volume of 30.70 and my FO has a IFRA of 4% then I'd use 1.20oz of FO. What I haven't been...

    Sugar Scrubs and Fragrance Amounts

Then I used way too much. I guess my question is do I add the sugar as part of my total? I don't work in grams but I had 10.71oz of these ingredients; olive oil, coconut oil, e-wax, stearic acid, beeswax, polysorbate 20, and preservative. Then an additional 20oz of sugar. So, would I add...

    Sugar Scrubs and Fragrance Amounts

I've been making sugar scrubs following a recipe by another soaper. I've been following the IFRA guidelines on FO's. The recipe has a total of 10.71oz counting the preservative. My question is should the sugar itself also be counted when calculating the amount of fragrance to use? If so, my...

    Dog Shampoo Bar Recipe

I made the following dog soap recipe (32oz of oil). I did my research and found this recipe online. I researched safe essential oils for dogs and found conflicting information. I did seem to get a consensus on Cedarwood essential oil. I plan to sell this so would like input from other soapers...

    I think I have success!!

Interesting comments. I'm using the hp method. The soap actually lathers pretty well. A shave soap expert advised me to keep lauric & myristic in the 10-15 range and that oleic should be on the low end. He only uses coconut and stearic oils in his recipe and adds glycerin. One of the best...

    I think I have success!!

That's interesting. I'm part of a soaping group and that's all they talk about is the fatty acid profile. This is recipe: Coconut 20% Stearic Acid 60% Kokum Butter 10% Shea Butter 10% NoaH and KOH split 70/30
