Made a soap mold and cutting board so naturally I made some soap

@cmzaha thanks for the advice, I'll try that. @DWinMadison using pallets is something new I have just started and love it. My first project with making things with pallets was a table. It might not look professional but that's what I like most about it.

Made a soap mold and cutting board so naturally I made some soap

I haven't tried to color any CP soap yet, only made CP once, but I have been thinking about trying it in the near future. I really like making HP soap because you don't have to wait 4-6 weeks to try out my creations hehe.

Made a soap mold and cutting board so naturally I made some soap

I used a rotary saw to cut mine out and since the board were extremely rough, I had to sand them smooth. In the end I like the way it all turned out.

Made a soap mold and cutting board so naturally I made some soap

I am big about making stuff out of pallets so I relished the chance to make a soap mold and cutting board out of them. Of course, after I made the two I had to make some soap to test it out. So I made a batch of chamomile tea soap, I used paprika and turmeric to color it. I put the images in an...

    mashed potato looking paste

This is my first time using corn oil as well, I just wanted to see the outcome lol. I guess once you start making soap you kinda do that every time you see different oils just to see what kind of soap it will make :P. Anyway, having true clear soap doesn't really bother me, this was just the...

    mashed potato looking paste

I was making a new batch of liquid soap today. Did everything like i normally do but instead of it becoming transparent like usual, it goes to a mashed potato like consistency and stops there. I tested it with phenolphthalein to see if there was any lye left in the soap and there wasn't. Here's...

    First time soap making fiasco

Sorry it took so long to write back, I had a busy week. I have done like you have said and put everything back in the pot I could. I then diluted it down to the thickness I wanted and used phenolphthalein to see if there was any lye that needed neutralizing. It did, so I used small amounts of...

    First time soap making fiasco

I used almond oil for the soft soap and I did not use a lye calculator since I was going by the recipe. I do know that the recipe calls for slightly more lye than necessary but I am plan on nutralizing it when I go to delute it.

    First time soap making fiasco

So this is the very first time trying to make soap using the paste method. I followed everything to a T and it was going fine until I go to add the lye solution. As I was stirring the mixture with a stick blender, the volcano effect started to happen after about 10 minutes. I didn't know this at...
