    Aloe oil

If the SAP valu is 0.135 for aloe oil, could I use the SAP value of olive oil and just put olive oil in the soap calc to figure out how much lye I would need?

    Aloe oil

Yeah thats not bad if you are only using that one type of oil but I plan on using it in conjunction with other oils. There is nothing i can use on soap calc to generate a recipe using aloe oil? Kind of regretting I bought it now. Let's say I want to use coconut oil, olive oil, lard, and...

    Aloe oil

What if you can't do the math? Is there something else you can plug into soap calc that has the same sap value so we can cheat? Lol. I just got some aloe oil too.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Nothing too exciting here. Tried a castile soap today. I used a pringles can as my mold. Made a one pound batch. This will be my third batch of soap...ever. I think I might be somewhat allergic to lye. I didn't get any on me but my arm started itching and I had this salty taste going on in my...

    Confused about gel phase

Thank you. I don't intend to give up just yet (I just purchased a bunch of oils and molds and stuff lol). I see all of your beautiful soaps and think "What am I doing differently that my soap is so much more boring?". I am lurking on this forum taking it all in. I plan on making some more...

    Confused about gel phase

Do I want the soap to go through gel phase or not? Why do some people not want it to go through it and others do? Is heat what makes it go through this phase? Is that why some people wrap their soap in towels and some put in the fridge? I am so confused. I made 2 batches so far and neither...

    Help me choose oils

Thanks, I went with Bulk Apothecary. I bought Sweet Almond oil, Jojoba (whoops?), Shea, avocado oil, palm, and aloe. I just wanted a nice assortment so I could mix and match. I appreciate all the input! I also bought some cute molds, colors, and fragrances (Ok, I went a little crazy and got some...

    Help me choose oils

Thanks, I guess I should have mentioned I already have lard, coconut oil, and olive oil. Just wanted to incorporate some more 'exotic' stuff.

    Help me choose oils

I am going to make some purchases on Amazon for soaping stuff. I will be getting some new molds, colors, and oils. What oils do you recommend? So far in my cart I have castor, palm, jojoba, and shea butter oil. Anything else? Thanks for your suggestions!

Cut pics of my first colored soap

So what you're saying is...you wear rubber gloves and a mask when you make love??? Bahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

Cut pics of my first colored soap

Ok. Total noob here. This is my first colored soap. Half of it ended up on the floor when I spilled it everywhere. Needless to say, after that fiasco, I wasn't expecting much. If I were to sell this (which I wouldn't as its a mess) I would market it as psychedelic hippie soap. Almost...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I am waiting for my second batch ever to harden...going on 48 hours. I can see how addicting this could be though. when you wash stuff, don;t you just do it right away or is it better to wait?

Most of this is in the trash

Ok, sorry I keep annoying you with this soap. I can't help it. I noticed the colors changed a bit. The soap was yellow and when I added the blue colorant it turned green (of course) but now it looks blue again. And what are these circles? Soda ash? Thanks for your input and...

Most of this is in the trash

But I want to see the inside! *stomps feet like a child* LOL....ok...I will wait. I am just so interested to see because its my first colored one!!! EEEEEEEEEEEkkkkkk...... Have to wait to see what has become of my sloshed around, half spilled soap. LOL Thank you!

Most of this is in the trash

So I went to check my soap log with excitement to cut it and it seems....soft? I am worried it might crumble if I handle it too much. Wait another day?

    Experiment with green...

    I think its pretty too.

Most of this is in the trash

Yes, it IS just soap after all. It all does relatively the same thing, washes you. But I want to make pretty soap. LOL I will of course use every soap I make that I can. The idea of putting it on a cookie sheet? GENIUS! Will do so next time! :-)

Cut soap pics.UGLY! Shield your eyes from this!

How do you soap "cooler?" You mean when you add the oils to the lye water, do it at room temperature? I kind of like the idea of Spongebob soap. LOL. Aftera few washes, those bubble marks will go away. I wonder what it will be like. Thanks everyone!

Most of this is in the trash

My second batch of soap. I am staying temporarily at my mother's house and she is very particular about how things are in her home. I totally respect that. I was surprised she let me make soap here. Anyways, as I posted in another thread, I made a weird swiss cheese/Spongebob soap. Holey...
