A picture of ricing, volcanos, separating, overheating

I'll never understand the antipathy towards glycerine rivers. I think they're lovely.

    lye & alcohol

I've never had a problem the few times I've abused beer by making soap. I just let the beer flatten and froze it - there is still alcohol in it. As far as using cologne in soap, I don't think the full scent will come through. Sounds interesting though.

A little ranty, but good and bad

You sound like you're in a rather unsupportive situation. Raising children and keeping a home is a huge, wonderful 'job' that benefits all. Anyone who doesn't appreciate that - I just don't get it. Your husband decided this? I am sorry he doesn't appreciate a well cared for home and family...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I hear you. I've got a34 year old son that lives with us. He works but is socially awkward. Basically he's a useful recluse.... So I make soap. He did build me a wonderful soap room though... He's a good boy. I don't think it's too sweet, and it does smell like pineapple. Here is a picture of...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Pineapple Cilantro in the mold and at my gelling station. I'll miss it when the fire goes out for the season! Scent is from Tamera, and it is just delightful. It discolors a bit but I work with it.

    Lilac drop swirl

I am absolutely thrilled with this drop swirl, I think it's my best ever - Lilac fragrance from Tamera's Soaping Scents behaved beautifully. Soaped cool but I had plenty of time to play. Colors from Nurture - Wisteria purple, Laurel Green and Lemon Chiffon.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Color morphing is fun to watch. Nurture colors, scented with Lilac from Tamera - it's the best lilac on the market. I had plenty of time to play. The orange was last night after the pour.

Router Bits for Soap Beveling? (video)

I can use these tools just as easily and get the nice *rounded* edges I prefer. Thank you, can see it now! I love it! Power tool overkill but nice results!

This thread is funny as heck - but I see no video??

    Rounded Edge Beveler

No, you don't sound cheap or frugal (well, maybe frugal :)) but a vegetable peeler won't give you the same radius bevel, and that's what I am going for. Felt the same way about some of the fancier fixed planer/bevelers also. But these are perfect for my use.

    Rounded Edge Beveler

I bought some handheld Japanese cornering tools from Amazon, but they've gone up in price. The look rather like old fashioned can openers but they work quite well. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0073G0LDK/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

Zum Lavender and Oatmeal Goats Milk Soap question??

Have a look at this website and see if this helps https://pvsoap.com/anise-lavender-goats-milk-cp-soap-recipe

    Lard V no Lard

It's 'ok' to use tallow in place of lard (after running through a lye calculator) but the two fats bring very different qualities to a soap. Pig fat is very close to our own, which is why it's so lovely on the skin. Tallow is nice also, but it makes for a harder, more cleansing bar than lard...

    Playing with pictures

Thank you all. I'm just playing. I am never going to try to sell my soaps online, I'm not taking pictures for customers, I'm taking them to learn and share. Plus I'm playing with something I've had for years but never used.
