    Sticking to the mold

I am having a terrible time with my soaps sticking to the molds. I think they are clean and dry before I pour, could it be that they are not clean or dry enough? Any thing I can do to the mold before I pour? Would a little oil ruin the soap if I "greased" the molds first? With a little light oil...

    old soap

Thank you :) That is Remington Steele. I only have enough base for about 2 bars. So I tried it. It kept bubbling over, especially after I added a little water. Even on 30% power and for only a few seconds. I'll see how it is when I take it out of the mold. Looks a little funky, but I bet it...

question about selling melt and pour

I have made soap, but what I do with mp is craft it. I don't really like a the cake analogy because a cake mix does do most of the work for you. It is not like most people take a cake mix and change it some how. If you buy a chocolate cake mix, you make chocolate cake. I think of it more...

    old soap

I was going through my crafting supplies and found some old melt and pour soap that looks a bit dried out. Not cracked, but maybe more rubbery that fresh stuff. It is also a bit amber in color. I can not remember if that was the original color or not. Is there anyway to use this for crafting...

    Spices vs FO

I don't know how to gel. I will be using a red palm oil. VERY orange result- so I don't need it for color. I may add some anyway to see the result. I guess I will go out to look for a pumpkin pie EO tomorrow :)

    Spices vs FO

I found a pumpkin pie soap. It calls FO, which I am not really into. So I thought about just using pumpkin pie spices. Would that work? Would I still get a good scent?

Is there a place that lists all the initials?

Thank you so very much. I get really confused sometimes but don't want to interrupt a thread to ask again.

LOL she is not even listing anything now. I have been checking.

Is there a place that lists all the initials?

Hey- I was wondering if there was a list on here of all the initials? I know CP, M&P and a few others, but there are still lots that I didn't know. I was surprised there was not a sticky of all these.

    Milk vs water

Well I made my second batch today of milk soap. Like I said use it as my liquid. I do watch the temps very well though. Milk and lye not to go about 100 or below 80. I did have to cool my oils down, they just did not want to come down at first, but I got them down to around 100 also. So far it...

    Milk vs water

I have made some goats milk soap. The way I was told to do it was to chill the milk and have it in a water bath with ice. Then to slowly add the lye to the milk and make sure the temp was always between 90 and 100. I didn't get a burn. That was my first attempt but I wanted to try some...

    INS? and other Soap/Cal questions

Doesn't adding the GM at the end make the soap too liquidy? I really don't know so I am just asking. Or do you reduce the amount of water you use? I will be using fresh goats milk ... well fresh frozen. :)

    INS? and other Soap/Cal questions

Well I have not gotten an answer and I wondered if this was such a simple answer that nobody wanted to answer it or if nobody really knew. SO I did a little research myself and thought I would share it for people who didn't know. I guess what INS is not really known, or I didn't find it. I...

    Difference in oils

There seems to be a big difference between the ISN values of corn and olive. What does INS mean anyway?

    INS? and other Soap/Cal questions

I am trying to run a recipe I found on line through the soapcalc. I am wondering about INS number means and how can I bring it down? Also if I am using milk instead of water how to figure out how much milk fat I have? If it is whole milk would I just multiply the number of oz x .04? for 4% milk?

    Milk vs water

If I want to make milk soap, can I just exchange the milk for the water in a recipe?
