    Peak Candle Closing

Just saw this on Facebook. They are closing up right away. Thought I would pass along.

    Camera Recs - DSLR

Early next month I'll be ready to purchase a new DSLR. I have been looking at the Canon T5i and T6i because I have liked the Canon models I've used in the past. Anybody have any experience or recommendations to offer? I am interested in using it for taking photos of my kiddos, outdoor/nature...

Latest soap with some swap goodies

Just doing some test batches and using some samples I received in the AL swap. I used 2% sodium citrate (from lionprincess) to see what effect it has on the lather. I used juniper berry & cedar from AHRE (a newer fragrance, i think), which is lovely btw. Strong in the bottle, but nice and smooth...

    Liquid Soap...It Was Easy!

Finally made my first batch of liquid soap! I was so glad to read through the posts here on the glycerin method, otherwise I would still be dragging my feet. Neutralizing, thickening, sequestering...sounds so fussy and time consuming. I used the SBM calc and used 1:1 water to dissolve the...

    Spin Swirl

Well, I gave this a shot today. I think I may have spun it a little too fast and muddied up the colors. Scented with Volcano from AHRE.

    Making Kombucha Soap

Thought I would share a little bit about the soap I made for the Alternative Liquids Swap, since I didn't find much about kombucha soap when doing a search myself prior to making it. I made two batches - a practice soap and a full batch for the swap. So, potential issues were acidity, trace...

    Babassu salt bar

I've been batting this around for a while and I finally got around to making a salt bar primarily with babassu oil. Recipe is: 80% babassu 15% avocado 5% castor 20% superfat sea salt @ 50% weight of oils Fragranced with Bamboo Cypress from AHRE. Now to wait for the cure!

    Shea weirdness

I just unpacked my shipment of soap supplies and got out the shea butter to transfer to another container like I always do...and the texture of it is super weird. The only way I can describe it is wet feeling (or very moist) and spongy. Not dense and greasy like normal. Smells ok, feels normal...

    Green Clover & Aloe

I love how this one turned out. It was a clean out the cabinet recipe so it has a fantastic mix of oils and butters that I won't try to replicate again. Haven't tried it yet, but I think it will be a great soap!

Elements B&B FOs - or what do you like for spring?

I have a whole week and a half to soap it up and I'm ready for some spring scents! I'm planning to place an order from either Elements, AH/RE or NG because I know I'll get my order quick. Hawaiian Hibiscus from Elements sounds good - anybody soap this? There are no reviews on the Soap Scent...

    Babassu salt bar?

Has anyone made a salt bar and substituted babassu for (100% of) the coconut oil they would have used? Couldn't find a thread referencing a batch like this. I love salt bars and was interested how this would turn out.

    Cutting salt bars

I made my first batch of salt bars yesterday. I used 90% coconut oil, 10% rice bran oil with a 20% super fat and salt at 50% weight of oils. I unmolded and cut within 2 hours and the loaf was still warm and firm, but soft. I suspect I could have waited a tad longer to cut at this percentage of...

Red palm and a mica line

For this soap I subbed some of my palm oil for red palm (to 6% of total oils). With a pink mica line and fragranced with WSP Satsuma. It smells sooo amazing and I love the color. First time I tried a mica line so I can't wait to cut it. I hacked up my last loaf pretty bad  So I probably...

    First real color swirl!

First time using pigments and I think it turned out pretty well! I was going for a tiger stripe but the batter was too thin so it's just a random swirl inside but pretty. My first time using FO too! It's starting to gel right now, so hopefully it still looks good when I unmold it.

    Toasted rice?

Anyone know of a supplier for a toasted rice type fragrance (besides Aussie Soap Supplies - in US)? I see BB has a basmati but sounds more floral than what I'm looking for. Any ideas?

    Hello everyone!

This is my first post, but I've been cruising around the forum for a little bit. Been wanting to make cold process soap for a while and finally did enough research and gathered up enough supplies to dive in. Finished my second batch today and so far so good! Just wanted to say hi and everyone on...
