    Substitute for Tallow?

    I have tried many different oils and combs. I personally like mine with lard. my objective when I first started, was to remove lard from all my recipes and sub out with something else, after it was all said and done..I like lard in my soap.

    I dont know if this tip will help or not, I mix my lye and aloe juice in advance (maybe a day or night before) then when Im ready to make soap I just mix oils (i only slightly heat the soild fats/oils) then add liquid oils with out heating them. (they dont have to be cooked) then add GM room...

    AshleyR, welcome to the soap forum....I said the same thing you said, 3 months ago and about 50 lbs of soap :lol: :lol: the soap cal will be your best friend. there is another program which i understand is good also, you might want to ask woody about it. kathleen

    wow, thanks!! still learning. thanks for the good info. I did make the soap late last night. today I will use all olive oil. I had made a high % of olive oil before and it seemed soft. maybe I just did not give it enough time to dry. thanks kathleen

    coconut oil well I played around some....I only did a superfat at 10% (Idont know why) and it was a bit dry. I used 50% coconut oil 10% castor 15 lard, 25 olive. the bubbles were GREAT!! and creamy also. but in the end after you rinse it left my hand dry. Im going to try to do 15% and use...

    are you using the stearic acid with your oils, or are you adding them at trace? Im still not sure about it??
