    Non Toxic Nail Polish Base?

I'm looking for a non toxic nail polish base. I see "natural" nail polishes being sold on Etsy, but I can't find a base anywhere. Or do they make their own? I can't even find a starter recipe. Apparently the base doesn't have that overpowering chemical smell, so I'd definitely like to find...

    Goat Milk Lotion Shelf Life?

Trunkbranches, I use Optiphen plus in my lotions at 1.5%. I like to use the maximum usage rate just to be safe. I've looked into natural preservatives but from what I've read, there aren't any that work the same as chemical ones like Germall. Susan runs a blog called...

    Goat Milk Lotion Shelf Life?

Yeah, I have several different lotion recipes without goat milk. I just had someone specifically request it to sell in her shop. I don't go over recommended amounts of preservatives, I stay within recommended usage range. I mean, all my lotions sell great, it's just for my small texas town, they...

    Goat Milk Lotion Shelf Life?

Oh, okay. I'll have to save up money to get it tested. I also emailed Susan and she got back to me surprisingly quick. She said she doesn't like using goat milk because she finds it too gamey. However, she did think the combination of preservatives was my safest bet. So, until I can send it to a...

    Body Butter Separation?

Wow.. I feel really stupid. I should have checked that in the first place. That explains everything, haha. Sorry for wasting your time.

    Goat Milk Lotion Shelf Life?

Oh no, you're fine. I'm sorry if I came off a little agitated in my response. I attempted to make some powdered strawberries, took a nap, forgot about them, and now they're these solid black powdered lumps. Bleh. But I'd definitely never make a lotion without a preservative. Unless it's a...

    Goat Milk Lotion Shelf Life?

Yes, ma'am. I know it goes off oils and antioxidants. I used optiphen and vitamin e. I was just wondering what the shelf life of the goat milk in the lotion would be, so I can calculate this. I should have phrased that better, sorry about that.

    Goat Milk Lotion Shelf Life?

So I'm making a goat milk and honey lotion. I've had a bottle I made myself and have been using for the last 3 months and it's still going strong. I used powdered goat milk at 1 oz per 6 oz of water. I was wondering what the shelf life of the lotion would be. I'll be making it for a consignment...

Lip scrub in a tube recipe

Does anyone have a good lip scrub for lip balm tubes? I want it to stay firm but still easily able to be applied. I've experimented a bit and it turned out decent, but I'd like a way to improve it. Thanks :)

    What about coloring "dirt" soap?

I like the idea of the poppy seeds for the specks. I think the end result would look fantastic. When I made my sweet grass soap, I did layers of color, starting with black, brown, light green, and dark green. I swirled and played with the top until it slightly looked like spikes of grass. Kind...

    Body Butter Separation?

I recently tried out a new body butter recipe. The ratio is: 60% Water 3% Humectant 12% Liquid Oil 15% Solid Butter 3% Thickener 7% Emulsifier 1% Preservative I've never had a batch of lotion separate on me, and since body butter is basically the same with a different ratio, I decided...

    Bath bombs not floating?

Oh. I've never bought from Lush. I always make sure to pack them tightly, I know it makes them last longer. Id much rather have thay than a lightly packed one. But thanks for the help :)

    Bath bombs not floating?

The basic parts of my recipe for bath bombs are: 2 cups Sodium Bicarbonate 1 cup Citric Acid Then I add cream of tartar, kaolin, polysorbate, fragrance, and witch hazel. My bombs are pretty big, I use the Christmas ornaments from Hobby Lobby. (I love the round bath bombs) I've heard...

    Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate

I've been using slsa in bath bombs and bubble bars. Not one of my customers have reported any irritation or reaction to it. From what I've read, it's supposed to be a lot milder than sodium lauryl sulfate and less irritating.

    Hi

Thanks :) I hope everything goes well for you in the future. There seems to be a pretty good wealth of knowledge here, so I'm sure we'll both learn a lot.

    Formulating a bubble bar recipe.

So I have a bubble bar recipe from Soap Queen that I've been using. It dries hard but is easily mold-able, giving me plenty of time to work with the shape and design. The liquid components of it are fragrance, castor oil, and glycerin. I'd like to make it a little more moisturizing without...

    Hi

Thank you :) I definitely make enough mistakes to learn from them, haha. I really enjoy it though. Plus, natural products are so much better than all the synthetic brands you can get at the store, and the customization aspect is a huge bonus. But I started a bath and body business, Requisite...

    Hi

Hi everyone, I'm a fairly new soap maker from Texas. I'm 19 and started my business almost a year ago. Hoping to make something with it, or give it my best shot. Plus, it's just a lot of fun to experiment and come up with my own recipes. I'm currently in love with making lotion and lotion...
