    URGENT HELP REQUEST: Colouring

I'm making my first ever transparent lye & alcohol soap. I've been doing it for about 3 hours but I'm not sure how to add the micas - do I just sprinkle it in or do I need to premix it with oil, water, or alcohol so that it doesn't clump? Thanks

Your secret to making the scent stick?

I know the basics of soap storage to keep the smell in. I was wondering about "anchoring" the scent. I've heard that if you use a "base note" fragrance like patchouli it will anchor a top note. Is that true? I like citrus oils like sweet orange. Do fragrance oils stick better? Do they need...

Best slicing technique to keep layered colours in tact?

I have made a loaf soap with 3 colours and the middle layer is a black strip in between two yellow/amber layers. When I slice the loaf, how do I do it so that the black doesn't smear down into the yellow? Does anyone have any special techniques or tools or will it just work nicely? Thanks

I made a soap with 3 colours including white. The soap has areas of white specs but they are not dry or powdery. I did a PH test and it was 10 and the same PH as 2 other soaps (store bought and a CP I made earlier). I did the tongue test and no zap. I did have trouble combining the...

    rosewater as fragrance (hot process)

I am new to soaping (I've made 3 CPHP batches). For my fragrance can I use rosewater with a few drops of rose otto essential oil instead of all essential oil? Will rosewater cause the soap to suds up? the rosewater smells stronger than the oil (3% rose otto in jojoba). Thanks

    Pineapple coconut soap recipe?

I've heard that you can use fresh pineapple juice in soap by discounting water. Does anyone have a recipe? I've heard its good for acne. Cheers Kylie

NEWBIE: Can you make your own fragrances for soaping?

Can you take things like vanilla pods, cinnamon, fresh mint etc and add it to some olive oil and add that to your soap instead of using store-bought fragrance oils/essential oils?
