    Goats Milk SOap HELP!

I find if you let it jell, it will turn tan/ yellowish color, if it doesn't jell, the chances it to stay white much better. And also depends on oils that you used. Lard/ coconut/ palm kernel will help you to preserve white color.

    Strange question....

Actually, as you said that, now I think back and can confirm that we had the same issues until few months ago ( that's when we started using my CP soap!).

    Palm kernel 'flakes'

I just made a batch yesterday with palm kernel flakes and Crisco. Cut it today, really liked the consistency. Easy to work, nothing special required. I made Castor Coconut Crisco Palm Kernel Grape seed Olive Play with the...

    Crisco All-Vegetable shortening

Are u guys using liquid Crisco oil or shortening. I looked at shortening here in Canada, it has bunch of other stuff beside soybean oil in it. The only " pure" one is liquid oil. I used it, can't say much. It's ok.

just bought my first thing of pinetar...

Use disposable dish and spoon to measure it. Put dish with pine tar to hot water to soften it and add it at the trace. Lavander EO slows up a trace, so consider it as you scent. Watch soaping101, she has good tutorials on you tube for pine tar soap. I followed the recipe, it turned our very...

    Salt Bars Leaking

I don't think you can use epsom salt in soap. you can use himalayan pink salt. And make sure salt that u using doesn't have iodine in it. Iodinized table or sea salt will have same effect as Dead Sea salt.

New to forum want to make goat milk soap

Like everyone else here, I read a lot and watched a lot of videos on youtube. So I discovered, that you can do GM soap both way. But if you decide to jell it, you have to watch it carefully, as it either can jell very quick and distort the soap, or if you don't insulate, it will have partial...

New to forum want to make goat milk soap

I freeze my GM and mix it with lye, using 100% GM. Also melt your hard oils, and then add liquid oils, it will bring oils temp down. Soap room temp. I made couple batches only, but carefully following instructions, didn't have any problems. Beside that I couldn't decide first time to jell or not...

Since we are talking about GM soap, I decided to show you, guys, something. This is my second batch of GM soap, that I made yesterday. There are two pieces from the same batch, round is from cupcake mold, not jelled, square from loaf mold, went through full jell (it was awesome to observe!!!)...

    Weak Frangrace in Soap

I am not an expert, but from what I read, citrus smells don't hold well. My last example, I used tangerine and peppermint EO yesterday, same brand, same amount. You can smel peppermint more then tangerine. Also, brand is very important. One time I used sweet orange from "soap specialty" store...

What are your top 5 can't soap without 'em oils?

I grow up in Russia.Back then, forty somewhat years ago, we had in stores this laundry soap, cheapest soap ever. I think it was from lard or tallow, but, for some reason, it was dark brown. Super cleansing, sons additives. So, my DH says, that my lard soap( which is only 40-50%! lard) has very...

List to do or what's your plans?

I am fairly new to this hobby, but enjoining it a lot ( my DH would say too much!). And I have long list of soaps and ingredients, that I want to try. Partially my recent and planned projects related to skin issues, that my family has: very long and dry winter makes everybody feel like raisins...

    Coconut Milk - my observations

I made my first batch, using CM last night. it was light CM with GG ( I forgot to check). Used 100% of CM, diluted lye in it instead of water ( like in reguler recipe), and it thickened like a pudding. When I added oils and started to stick blend it was fine. Oils diluted it enought to make it...

You know you're a soapmaker when...

I really like that thread. It's good o know that you not the only one like that. All aforementioned symptoms are present! Good thing I have teenaged daughter with skin problems so I have an excuse for my skin products adventure! " it's all for our baby!"

    Goats Milk SOap HELP!

Very interesting. I made my first goat soap last week. Didn't put in the fridge initially, but it started to jell. I remember from watching soaping101 that heat will caramelize sugars in the goat milk, so I put it in the fridge. After an hour it kept jelling and I moved it to freezer. Took out...

    Pine tar soap failure!!!

You know, I didn't , and that was my mistake. As soap calc will calculate tar for lye and water amount, but it doesn't recognize it as oil for oil amount. I just wander if it will keep saying that your oils not 100% if you substract it from oils. But I think it's a right way to do.

    Pine tar soap failure!!!

Don't be scared! Just read carefully instructions. Trace cold, add lavander EO to prolong trace as otherwise it traces really quick. And do minimum superfat. I had 10% tar and 5% superfat and it was too fat!!! LOL
