    Soap filled sponges

An option to consider, is slicing a sponge into thin slices and adding it to your loaf after the pour. Then cut the soap in between each sponge slice. I think the search term you are using on you tube is not correct. The method I mentioned is definitely on YouTube. Search "loofah soap"

Weight of oil not same as container is labeled

Ya, i understand it all now. It's just so silly. Whats the point, or benefit of selling by volume anyways? Lol

Weight of oil not same as container is labeled

Yes, but if the oils we buy to make soap, are sold by volume, then it is not as simple. As ordering a 32 fl oz bottle of oil will not be enough oil for your batch if it needs 32oz oil by weight.

Weight of oil not same as container is labeled

Thanks everyone. I think it must be industry standard to package by volume. I have noticed this with 2 different scales so thats not the case. I decided to call the company i ordered from and they said it was by volume. Although their label does say "1 QUART / 32 OZ / 946 L" I will call them...

Weight of oil not same as container is labeled

I have noticed when ever I use the entire container of an oil/butter that if its a 32oz bottle and I pour it out into my bowl on a scale, then I am always short a few ounces. Or if its a 1lb tub of Shea butter, then it'll only be 13-14 oz. Why is this? I have even added the weight of the...

    Avocado Oil - 18mo old

Ok, it does not have any smell at all, just smells like oil. Yipee! It has been stored in a dark closet the whole time. It could have heat variations as we do get hot dry summers. I wonder if heating it would get rid of the sediment? Its almost like its just solidified oil flakes. If that makes...

    Avocado Oil - 18mo old

I lost track of time. My 1 gallon jug of avocado oil that is still half full is 18mo old. I've read different opinions that it can last anywhere from 12mo-2yr. Since there is no definitive answer, can I go based on looks? What do I look for? If there are some floaties does that mean it is bad...

    Help!

I find that letting it sit out all day or overnight is best. Whip it up when its firm and you can get it as creamy or as whipped as you like, depending on how long you whip. If it goes grainy at any point, you can temper it, let harden then whip.

    Bath melts help please

What is the purpose of adding baking soda? I just made my first bath melt recipe and it called for baking soda so i followed along. But I'd like to understand the purpose & benefits. Does it matter if I use the correct ratio of baking soda? Or can it vary with still having benefits?
