Thickness of Cut for Bar Soap

My bars are 5 oz 1" bars, I often wonder if I should make them thicker.

    Packaging Ideas?

I've looked into biodegradable cling wrap recently, I believe from a company called OXO or XOX - something like that. Right now, I'm using regular shrink wrap because I needed it in a pinch. Do you mind reposting after using the cling wrap to let us know how it worked? Thanks!

    Fragrance Oil Queries

I like Nurture Soap and Nature's Garden Candlescience is another favorite but I really have to be careful not to order fragrances not intended for soap or have low percentage usage in soap. I do find a lot of their fragrances behave badly in CP. I've also been very happy with Aztec.

    Bath Bomb Books

Thank you so much for this recommendation! That book has terrific reviews. I'm sure I'll find what I need in there and just downloaded it onto my Kindle. I did subscribe to the swiftcraftymonkey blog, I am enjoying it a lot, but it has taken me down a deep rabbit hole. The kind you go down...

    Bath Bomb Books

Thank you! I will go check it out. I saw the blog mentioned in a few other threads but was hesitant. It does sound like it's a good way to learn though, thank you again!

    Bath Bomb Books

Hi, I've been using YouTube as an educational source on making bath bombs and have made them twice with varying success. I'd like to understand more about them so I can develop my own recipe, maybe bubble bars too. Does anyone have any book recommendations? Thank you!

Aloe Vera Juice - is adding a little effective?

Thank you so much for posting about your experience! I hope your hands are ok and you're feeling better. I'm planning to use AVJ for the first time on Monday, and I really appreciated your post. Not happy it happened to you, but happy I can use your experience to be a little more cautious than...

    Sustainable Palm in Indonesia

Thanks for this post. When I first started making soap I tried to be palm-free, but couldn't find a good alternative because I'm not a huge fan of shea butter. This makes me feel a little better that I gave up and went with RSPO instead.

Aloe Vera Juice - is adding a little effective?

After looking into it a little, it almost sounds like sorbitol will do the same thing....?

Aloe Vera Juice - is adding a little effective?

Thank you, I appreciate your response, and it gives me something to think about. I need to get out of the box I've put myself in and experiment a little more. I haven't looked at additives very much and I'm not exactly sure why. The soap I make isn't bad, but I believe I can make it better.

Aloe Vera Juice - is adding a little effective?

Very true reminder, thank you, that helps me not feel so bad about some of the supplies I already have. I'm curious, and you don't have to answer if you don't feel inclined. Do you use the same additives in all your soaps, or do you change them up? I realize that's a loaded question because you...

Aloe Vera Juice - is adding a little effective?

Hi Llyshanevaeh, Yeah, the recipe I posted has been my go-to for a while now. The one before that used jojoba instead of almond, and I liked it better, but again, the price point is important to me. I was looking for a little more oomph, which is why I was looking into AVJ. I was motivated...

Aloe Vera Juice - is adding a little effective?

I was just looking on Google to see what's out there. I was searching for gallon jugs, which is how I buy my water. I found juice for $15 on eBay and $28 at Natural Healthy Concepts, and $27 at All Star Health, compared to a few dollars for a gallon of distilled water it seems a little...

Aloe Vera Juice - is adding a little effective?

Good morning! I spent several months working on a soap formula that was low cost but still good. For instance, I stopped using jojoba oil in my soap. However, I still think my recipe could be improved. I've been reading a lot about Aloe Vera Juice, and I want to experiment with it, but...

Patchouli Essential Oil - smell after long cure

I guess it's time for me to start doing some testing. I fall into the category of those who love patchouli, when my soap falls short I'm definitely disappointed.
