What soapy thing have you done today?

Unmolded my Cactus flower and White tea soap. Totally recommend this blend it smells sooooo delicious. Be warned - the Cactus Flower is an accelerator.

Yeh, but then I’d have to tidy my kitchen :)

What soapy thing have you done today?

Oh how very exciting! I have my new Cactus Flower and Jade FO, which I am combining with White Tea FO to try and duplicate my favourite 'Scentsy' Washer Whiffs (White Tea and Cactus) only as soap of course. Just waiting for the lye to cool...and away we go! ETA - YUMMO! That scent is divine...

    Happy SoapDay To Me 🧼🍰

Happy soap day @Peachy Clean Soap! Funny enough - my two year soap day anniversary came up recently in my facebook memories, and here's a pic: Everyone got a bar for Christmas that year, wrapped nicely with a soap dish. I cringe when I look at it now, however, I managed soap, fragrance and...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Cut my drop swirl/chopstick swirl combo soap. I kinda like the effect.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I haven't used this fragrance oil for a while - Black Currant Absinthe by Candle Science. Just received the FO yesterday so thought I'd make a batch with it. It's very strong - even made me feel a bit nauseous having the smell on my hands from the bottle. It should be interesting to see the...

    stearic spots or TD?

Here's some examples of glycerin rives from my archives: Less water will help. Since i started using less water I don't get as many. I used to use 28% lye concentration, now I use 30 - 33%. I prefer gelled soap, so I will take glycerin rivers over ungelled soap.

    stearic spots or TD?

'Rivers' can be round. Whenever you see little clear bits ( like glycerin soap looks) they are usually glycerin rivers. I'll see if if i can find some of mine to show - hold the line please caller :-)

    stearic spots or TD?

Hi Jax - it looks like it might be glycerin rivers. If you use TD and your soap gels, it is quite likely you will get them. What was your water content?

Get some aloe juice and use that? Some beer?

    First batch ?'s!!!

Lard and palm have different qualities/different fatty acid profiles, so you would be best to become familiar with those. I found this quite helpful when starting out: The Most Popular Fatty Acid Profiles in Soapmaking Bear in mind that these are the most popular profiles - not necessarily the...

    First batch ?'s!!!

I use 'real' aloe as well. I just peel all the green off and put the gel part into a blender until it is all pureed finely. Then force it through a sieve. Weigh it out into 300g baggies and put it into the freezer to use in future soap batches.

    First batch ?'s!!!

Hi Rad - you should always use a lye calculator, such as soapmakingfriend.com.

How popular are your salt soaps?

Makes you wonder if it's just the high CO that's doing that, rather than the salt.

Rooto Lye Users - Please Confirm

I've always bought mine from the Hardware/Building store ( your 'Lowes' equivalent). It's only 98% pure and it's rare to find any brand that is 100%. The brand is 'Glitz' ( it's Australian but we won't hold that against it ;)) and it even says on the label - "perfect for soap making"!

How popular are your salt soaps?

I have made two batches of salt soap in the past, the first one was in the early days which I gave away, and the second one was last year. It just would not sell! It was Pink Grapefruit fragrance, and it was coloured pink and I wonder if both of those contributed to the lack of interest. Over...

Ricing! What's the worst that can happen?

I did exactly that Linne - separated the colours then added FO last. As soon as it touched the batter it riced. One of the reviews said that it riced, and another said it behaved perfectly. Now there's another review that says it RICED badly! Guess who posted that one? LOL.

    Soap Molds!!! Changing it up...

I find that I need to force gel with a slab mold ( if you want it to gel that is)
