    1st attempt at shower steamers

@Maia I don't know what the spots are, but your steamers are beautiful 😍

    Making Shampoo bars

I'm glad my hair is dry, not oily, because that's way too much work!

    Adventures in pull-throughs

That makes sense. The nuts are tiny and hard to loosen or tighten. I just hand tightened them and that's likely why it tipped. Maybe adding a washer above and below would help steady it as well.

    Adventures in pull-throughs

Just cut my bars and they came out better than I expected for a first try. I'm not crazy about the colors (Nurture's Maya Gold, Green Vibrance, Mocha, and TD for the white), but they do smell yummy (Juicy Pear and Champagne). At about 22 hours I put it in the freezer for about 2 hours, then...

    Adventures in pull-throughs

Do they get stuck while squirting batter into the tube or after they're empty and you go to clean the syringes to use again? Do you spray oil on the gaskets or into the syringe itself?

    Making Shampoo bars

I use one for all my shampoo bars and love the way they look. I dust with corn starch and it works well. I dust inside the mold and also a light dust on each ball of shampoo before I put it in the mold.

    Adventures in pull-throughs

I'll take that as an optimistic comment since I haven't even unmolded this batch yet

    Adventures in pull-throughs

Made my first attempt at kaleidoscope soap today, and learned it's trickier than it looks! When I started pouring, my batter was too thin, and since I was pouring directly out of paper cups, it was a long way down so the colors mixed. I suspect that part will look like an ITP swirl when I cut...

    1st attempt at shower steamers

I've been experimenting with different sizes and I'm finding about 40-45 gms to be about right for my length shower. Is it humid where you are? That could be the cause of your morning bumpies.

    1st attempt at shower steamers

I'm not using any oils besides the EOs, and I can't imagine the amount in one steamer would make much of a problem. And besides, I use so much hair conditioner in the shower, I'd never notice if the floor got any more slippery! Thanks for the explanation. I'll keep on keepin' it simple.

    1st attempt at shower steamers

So I made a batch similar to Ellen Ruth's recipe except no polysorbate 80 (like Kim's Moon Cake recipe except less menthol). They came out fine, and I don't see that it made any difference. Does anyone know a reason to use the PS80? I like keeping it simple when it works.

    Opposites Pull Throughs

Thanks, @AliOop and @Humblegoat . I couldn't figure out how to tape the liner on the outside, so assumed you taped inside. I like Humblegoat's idea of wrapping it on a can :) My (2nd batch of) disks arrive Monday and I can start playing. I ordered these on Etsy after measuring my mold...

    Opposites Pull Throughs

I'm gathering materials to try some pull-throughs, and I'm curious how you do the masking tape. I assume you have to put the tape on the inside (awkward?), and does that leave an indent along the side of the soap? Do you prefer butting or overlapping the liner edges? I'll be using freezer paper...

    1st attempt at shower steamers

I cut and pasted the recipe directly from the Files section of Moon Cake Cult on FB.

    1st attempt at shower steamers

@Tammyfarms I just asked my helpful AI wizard how much menthol is recommended and got this very helpful info. I suspect mine seemed ok bc of the EOs additional kick. Guidelines for Menthol Percentages in Shower Steamers Low Menthol Content (5%-8%) Ideal for mild aromatherapy. Provides a...

    1st attempt at shower steamers

I used Ellen Ruth's recipe which has menthol at 2%. I see recipes online for varying amounts of 2 to 5%. 7% seems high being that the 2% in mine plus the Euc/Pepmint EOs seemed adequate. Keep us posted on what you use and how they turn out.

    1st attempt at shower steamers

Just finished a shower with my first shower steamer. I'd used 2% 50/50 eucalyptus/peppermint with the menthol. The scent seemed about right to me: very noticeable but not overpowering. My husband came upstairs a short while after I got out of the shower, and as he approached the bathroom he...

    1st attempt at shower steamers

    2-3% seems about right.
  19. Feelin' Soapy

    1st attempt at shower steamers

UPDATE: Don't know why this isn't showing here. Just go to Moon Cake Cult page on FB. It's in the Files. Here it is from those files: 91 percent alcohol (enough to cover your menthol crystals) 1 oz menthol crystals or 30 grams ( dissolved in your alcohol) 1 cup baking soda or 250 grams 1/2...

    1st attempt at shower steamers

I made mine 50 gms apiece. It easily lasted for my very long shower (maybe 12-15 minutes?).
