2014 Pretty Blind Superfat Soap Swap

SPOILERS I've now had the chance to use each of the soaps and here are my notes. At the bottom is my best guess as to what the SF levels are - or maybe more accurately, how soft my skin felt after using them. This was the first time I've experienced a "film" on my skin. I've heard Carolyn...

    Flower EO for soapmaking

I've used hyssop EO which doesn't accelerate or discolor. It's not that strong but it does stick in CP.

Oil's /you/ think are 'must have'

    Tallow, olive and castor.

    FINALLY a good rebatch

Agreed. Ael was v. respectful and polite; I guess I just don't see the point of turning on that critical eye unless it's requested. Maybe that attitude also contributes to the Pollyanna vibe - but again, there's a difference between blowing smoke and just not getting involved in the...

2014 Pretty Blind Superfat Soap Swap

No issues with picking a date to post SFs, but I'd prefer a little later; say, Friday, if everyone can wait that long. Because this swap is all about ME and MY schedule....if not, I'll have to disconnect my wifi and buy a chastity belt for my hands so I don't log on and peek.

Gasoline Soap - The Real Thing!

DH made napalm in college. On a grill. We are both probably on some kind of watch list now, him for making it and me for posting about it. You too, Dennis!

    FINALLY a good rebatch

There's a difference between soliciting opinions ("Tell me what you think, be honest!") and saying you're proud of what you made, even if others don't like it. OP did the latter. Of course, everyone has their own opinions, preferences and tastes. If you don't like someone's product, there's no...

    FINALLY a good rebatch

Oh man, it's him against the whole world (and your soap). He's the classic antihero.

2014 Pretty Blind Superfat Soap Swap

I used warm water and worked each bar for about ten seconds - so not very long. I tried not to look at your pics before taking mine as I didn't want to be unduly influenced, but yeah, you got much better lather. I probably should have worked them more. ETA: Comparing our pics, I think it's...

How big a deal is overheating, really?

Exactly what I was hoping to hear. Thank you!

2014 Pretty Blind Superfat Soap Swap

Nope, I think it was a premonition for the soap I made last night. BAH. As promised, here are lather pics. Please try to ignore the fact that my captions look like they were scrawled by a drunken monkey who has three broken toes, trying to write with his feet.

    Sorry, one more pic.

How big a deal is overheating, really?

Made this GM soap last night. Cut it this am to find it oily and with non-zappy pockets. Is there any reason it wouldn't be safe to use since it's not zappy?

    FINALLY a good rebatch

Def not ugly. Looks like granite, as a pp said.

2014 Pretty Blind Superfat Soap Swap

I will post lather pics tonight after work. I've used a couple so far in the shower (I just can't get any sense of soap washing only my hands) and will post my impressions so far after 4-5 soaps so it doesn't take me a month to give feedback. I had a dream about the soap box last night...

    Which Molds?

I used tupperware or casserole pans lined with plastic wrap.

I made the revised second recipe. And just got my box.

    Lotion Bar Labels?

I don't know much about labelling laws, but it seems that's a tricky word, at least from what I see on this forum.

    Lotion Bar Labels?

Much better! For usage directions, how about, "Apply to dry skin daily"? It avoids the use of the word moisturizing (I'm not sure if that is problematic) and tightens up the language.
