Question: Selling in the UK and beyond

I did, but the response was that not being experts on legislation, they wouldn't want to advise. I've approached CTPA to see if they can advise anything. I can't find any information that suggests they fall under UK legislation; equally, I can't find anything that suggests they have aligned...

Question: Selling in the UK and beyond

Anyhow... going back on topic: If anyone discovers whether or not the crown dependencies fall under the same regulations as the mainland UK, please do let me know. I asked someone from trading standards and he admitted he didn't know either. As I can't seem to find any specific legislation...

Question: Selling in the UK and beyond

It has been an absolute ****-show for the last five years or so. I've actually questioned leaving the country. :/

Question: Selling in the UK and beyond

I've sent her a message on YouTube. Brexit has a lot to answer for!! It's frustrating that the definition of 'UK' is not actually defined in the legislation... and I can't find any legislation that specifically pertains to the crown dependencies as distinct areas under cosmetic regulations.

Question: Selling in the UK and beyond

I've asked on a couple of groups, hopefully someone can provide some insight. I absolutely curse Brexit.

Question: Selling in the UK and beyond

I actually found some legislation for NI - they're essentially remaining aligned with the EU, so you're not able to sell there unless there is a responsible person present. I don't know about the channel islands or the Isle of Man though.

Question: Selling in the UK and beyond

Hi all, I was hoping someone could help me regarding where in the UK I can sell my soaps once the CPSRs have been confirmed. I do not have a Responsible Person in the EU, so I know legally I cannot sell there, but where does the CPSR cover me for in terms of sales? I have assumed: Mainland UK...

UK CPSR: Indigo & Annatto query

Hi all, I make soaps using Indigo Root Power (oil infusion, strained) and Annatto seeds (oil infusion, strained); however, I have been hearing lots of stories lately of people having CPSRs rejected when people are using these as colourants. Does anybody know why this might be / what has...

    UK Insurance Query

Hi guys, Does anyone in the UK make soap from a purpose built out building like a shed or garage? If so, does this cause any problems with insurance (either home or business)? While I could set up a room in the house itself, a purpose built space is more practical for me. Thanks, Andy

    25% Shea - slowing acceleration

The other oils are olive, castor, sweet almond, and coconut. So nothing fancy. I have noted that I do get quite a lot of ashing working this way, so I need to figure out how to work round that too.

    25% Shea - slowing acceleration

Hi all, I recently decided I wanted to make some firmer bars, so I increased the amount of Shea in my recipe to 25% (up from 20). I get a firmer bar, but I am finding that it seems to trace pretty fast. I've tried soaping with a variety of temps from 30 - 40c, but that doesn't seem to make too...

    CPSRs - 10% variant Query

    Thank you.

    CPSRs - 10% variant Query

Hi guys, When you buy CPSRs in the UK for each variant you are allowed the base recipe + 10% by weight of additional ingredients. Does anybody know if the 10% is based upon the total batch weight (oils+water+fragrance+lye), or just the weight of the oils? I'm trying to work out mathematically...

How much TD for a brilliant white?

Oooh, no. I wouldn't want to exchange the OO for the same quantity of sunflower oil... it'd be a horrible, sticky mess in my experience! Maybe I'll just have to accept ivory is the best I can hope for. I've not heard of bleached shea or coconut before, just refined (which are pretty pale) or...

How much TD for a brilliant white?

Hello all, How much TD do you guys use to get a brilliant white soap? I just used 15g to 0.6lbs batter and it was still a cream/ivory colour! I used OO (pale), Shea (refined), Cocoa (refined), Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, and Castor Oil. I would have thought based on what I read that I'd...

    Folded Essential Oils - UK

This would just be a little side project. I work as a therapist and my partner also happens to be quite well off... my comment was really more to highlight the issue of production cost vs. sale price! ;)

    Folded Essential Oils - UK

So, £155 per litre and a normal batch and we assume that 1ml of EO is the weight equivalent of 1g, in my normal recipe I would use 34.2g of EO. £155/1,000 = £5.30 for a 820g loaf of soap. The other ingredients for that amount of batter probably come to about the same, maybe a bit less. So I am...

    UK: CPSRs and Embeds

In the UK (unless I am misunderstanding), when you submit a CPSR, it's all based on weights, but it makes the assumption that all soaps you make are the same weight - because everything about that soap has to come out of the same recipe. So while you can scale the recipe up and down once...

    Folded Essential Oils - UK

I'm going to try the clay thing. I wish there were more folded EOs that we could buy here in the UK, but it looks like the only one in existence here is 5x or 10x orange (which is ridiculously expensive). I guess there must be some kind of safety concern about the others or something. I know we...

    UK: CPSRs and Embeds

Hi all, Please may I check to see how CPSRs work in relation to embeds? Currently I am only making soap for myself, so this isn't really an important point, but I want to get CPSRs done so I want to find out how this works. At the moment, I have my recipe which contains more batter than my...
