    What happened to Faithy??

Didn't know where else to put this, so I put it here. I was just wondering what happened to Faithy. I had come to depend on her tutorial about making liners out of freezer paper. Today I went to the tutorial section, and her tutorials are gone. I did a search for her in the member list and...

Hey Payl... Would you do us a favor??

Hey Paul, Would you please put up a tutorial on making up lye water ahead of time and using it in future batches? I'd like to do this because thanks to faithy, I now only do RTCP. And, sometimes I don't want to have to wait forever for the lye water to cool down. Thank you in advance...

Well, I've made another batch of soap. About 2 lbs. of it. Faithy helped me choose the oils to use. Faithy, thank you for all of your help and input! Now, if I could just learn to make soap!!!!! Since I have learned that grams are much more accurate than ounces, I've been using...

    Freezer paper...

As some of you know, I was having a devil of a time finding a local source for freezer paper to line a mold. I went to Walmart and saw with my own two eyes that they didn't carry it. While there, I checked the crafts department to try to find the foam sheets that Paul told me about. They were...

    Mold liner material

I wanted to find some freezer/butcher paper to line a mold with. So, I checked with Walmart, my local grocery stores, Fred's, Dollar General, and Rural King. None of them carry freezer papaer!!  I have no meat packing houses close to me. And, the two grocery stores here no...

    When to package CP soap...

I know I've read it somewhere. But, I can't remember where. I have done a bunch of reading in the last couple of weeks. I know that once you have made your CP soap, it needs to cure for 3 or 4 weeks. Am I right that you need to let it cure before you package it?? I know that probably...

My first attempt at CP... sort of long... sorry!!

Well.... I did it. And, when I did it... I stepped in it!! I made my first ever batch of CP soap. I made one pound of it using this recipe... at least I thought I followed the recipe: Canola 6, ounces Olive Oil 5, ounces Coconut Oil, 2 ounces Lye, 1.73 ounces Water, 4.3...

    Using goat's milk

I want to use some concentrated/evaporated goat's milk to make some cp soap. I've read about how that adding the lye to it will make it overheat, smell bad, and turn brown. Since I have to combine 1 part evap. milk with 1 part water anyway, can I add the lye to just the water, let it cool down...

    CP recipe question...

I know that I had said that I only intended to do M&P soaps, but..... We had to go to the grocery store today (Walmart Supercenter). On the way, we passed TSC (Tractor Supply Company), and I remembered that on Kathy Miller's site it said that TSC was a possible source for lye. So, I stopped...

    The board colors don't change....

I went into my profile and changed the color scheme. But, regardless which color I choose, the board still appears with medium dark brown boarders and a very light tan background. Am I doing something wrong?? Thanks, Robert

    Stearic Acid in M&P

Has anyone used stearic acid like this:Stearic Acit in their MP soap? The way I understand it, using it makes the soap harder. If my understanding is right, it seems to me that it would help the soap last longer. Is that right too?? Thanks, Robert

    Question about MP....

Earlier today, I spoke with a lady who is local to me. When I told her about the fact that I was going to start making soap, she asked me if I could make green tea glycerin soap. She said that she had used it before and loved it. Having lost her source, she is on the hunt for it. She told me...

I've only started one thread so far. And, in it I learned that the people on this site are extremely nice and eager to help out a newbie like myself. Thank you for that!! I would like to try some MP soap. But, I have a very limited budget! :( It was suggested to me that I find out what...

    New with M&P ??

Hello all, I have not made any soap as of yet. After reading a tremendous amount of information on the internet, I don't think I am interested in any method other than the M&P method. So, I have a few questions. From what I have read, you don't want to add a bunch of different "stuff" to...
