According to the guy who tested our water we have better water straight out of the well than the city water (which contains arsenic(!) and is very hard) and we don't even need a water softener. The water here in the Tularosa basin is apparently the best in the state, so our RO water should work...

    Diamond wedding ring

I got to pick my engagement ring over the internet (we met online) and we are still married 9 years later. :) The ring, however, does not fit anymore.

Its Fri what's in your soap pot?

Woodi, Neroli is my favorite as well. Bergamot is a close second.

Interesting. I wonder if our water is radioactive. We hear the rockets from White Sands all the time. Ok, I will try our RO water next time and see if it makes a difference. Thanks for all the help, you guys!

Actually, our water, although it is well water, is very soft. But I can try using our filtered water for the next batch if you think that will help. Like I said, the color is okay in the water but dissipates as soon as I add oils.

Ok, I will find a different mold and try again.

That's why I thought maybe I was doing it wrong. The first batch I used them in I didn't gel, does that have a bearing on the result? The second batch may have overheated a bit. I need to find a better mold for my next batch, but will try the colors again and see if I can get them to work properly.

Thank you, Irena, but somehow that does not work for me. The color disappears after about 30 seconds (at room temp soaping) and does not reappear later on either. Adding the color to the lye water instead does something to the color after the soap has cooled, so I may continue to experiment...

Its Fri what's in your soap pot?

I made some soap last night and I used a PVC pipe. I think it overheated because it is kind of mottled, either that or it is a side effect of my recurring coloring problems. If I can find an easier mold than the stupid PVC pipe I will make some more soap this weekend. I'll work on hubby to...

I know, I wrote to her a few weeks ago but she may be on vacation or something because I have not heard back from her.

Thanks, I have done that before and had success with it. I will go back to what I know works until I can afford to buy pop micas.

A recipe that's good for people who bathe with soft water?

 Carebear, if you don't mind I will put it in my signature. That is the best quote I have heard in a while!

I am sure I am using enough. The color is strong but disappears after a few seconds. These are FD&C colors. I may try mixing with glycerin next time. Anyone know if this is something I can pick up locally? (No craft stores for miles and miles but we have a Walmart).

Nothing happens. I add it to the soap and it dissipates. I add it to the lye water and it looks ok, but as soon as I add it to the soap it dissipates again. If I add it to oil it forms droplets. In water it dissolves like it should.
