    Adding fragrance to oils

I've done it both ways. Adding the scent to oils doesn't change the way the scent comes through in the final product. For scents that are known fast movers, I don't use a stick blender. I hand mix/stir the lye mixture into the oils with a spatula. Be ready to seperate and mix colors as soon as...

    Plastic Pitchers

For future reference, they are polypropylene (#5 plastic) lab pitchers. For anyone interested in larger sizes, to mix whole batches, I recommend the short form. The short, wider base pitchers will fit in the microwave and better for using a stick blender. I've bought some off of Amazon. The...

The dog, the mouse poison and a tip to share

I'm glad your dog is okay, dibbles. I'll have to pick some up the next time I'm out. I haven't kept any in the house since my nurse friends told me it's not the best for cleaning out wounds.

    AmazonSmile Program

It's a great program. To anyone new to the program, remember to log into their smile.amazon.com web address instead the Amazon.com address once signed up to have eligible purchases credited to the charity of your choice. I currently have mine set to donate to the Pheonix Society for Burn Survivors.

Small Soaps Keep Volcanoing! Please Help!

My experience has been the opposite of yours. There's usually not enough batter for the soap in individual molds to make and retain much heat. The times I've split a batch between a loaf mold and individual molds, if the recipe heats up much, it's the portion in the loaf mold that does...

    Request for tick repellant soap

There is not going to be enough EO left on the skin, if at all, to be an effective bug repellent. I'd recommended opening up a dialogue with your client to educate them. In the process, you could offer to still make the soap, but steer them toward a product that may be a more effective...

    Does anyone make hand sanitizer?

I'm an LMT in Oregon. The only hand sanitizer approved for sanitizing hands between clients, when running water is not available, has to use alcohol to kill germs. I use 70% isopropyl in a spray bottle. I might have to try making up some gel and see if it's less drying after an event.

What size bar would you choose?

I'd take the two smaller bars for the same reasons that have been mentioned. Different scents to try out and 4-4.5 ounces is a nice size.

    14 Day Clutter Purge

I'm in. I've been in the process of decluttering off and on the last couple of months. I have a box of kitchen stuff, a bag of books, and a few articles of clothing to give away already. I've stalled more recently, and this will give me the motivation I need to get rid if more stuff.

    Beef pho recipe anyone?

I've tried Luke Nguyen's recipe, and it turned out well. http://eatlittlebird.com/2014/02/27/vietnamese-beef-noodle-soup-pho/ FYI the recipe shown in the video, and the recipe in the blog are different. The video is worth watching for tips on technique, and for a slightly different style...
