    Soft soap

I just finished my fourth batch of soap. I did one batch with multiple colours. I mixed the colours too much and they were quite gloppy when I put them in the mold. My second and third batch, I'd learned my lesson so mixed less and they turned out fine although I had to hurry to pour them and...

    First Batch

The soap was 120 degrees. Only the stick blender was steaming where the blade was.

Thank you, yes the blade was very hot when I took it out, it was steaming! Maybe it was air bubbles, I'll see if it happens again next time.

    Temperature of lye water

I made a very small batch of soap, my first. 10oz total. Didn't have to use very much lye and water but is it normal that it only reached 120 degrees? I was expecting it to get hotter. Is it because it was such a small amount?

    First Batch

Crackling It's a metal shaft, the blade is not discoloured. I was mixing in a plastic bowl though. Weird.

    First Batch

I just made my first batch of soap today, using a cheap stick blender I bought at Walmart. While mixing my batch, I heard a crackling sound coming from the 'batter' when the blender was immersed (not the whole time though) and wonder if the blade from this blender is stainless steel after all...
