Help!!! Ants are eating my soap!

my green cheek Conure will take a bite if I let her, especially if I'm slicing bars in the kitchen. She thinks anything I have is food and she's spoiled so now I slice soap elsewhere.

First Attempt at Soap (hot process, well-used fry oil, sour milk)

I second the use of 100% coconut oil for serious cleaning. I made a small batch for cleaning paintbrushes and spot cleaning laundry. For natural hair brushes, I rinse them in diluted vinegar after cleaning.

    Cleaning tip

Yeah, as I said, I don’t suggest getting the multiple items like I did, since one will last until you accidentally cut it or something. I generally avoid Wal-Mart at all costs, but starting to feel just as bad about amazon lately. I can’t win with shopping. Yes! The face scrubbers are great. I...

    Who here uses homemade makeup?

Interesting! I *think* mine had instructions for tea on it, so I assumed it was always safe for lips, but now that I think about it, eating something and wearing it on your lips are different things. I’m really silly when I get excited. I will check my bag and read up on it thoroughly before...

    Who here uses homemade makeup?

I would love to know this too! I’ve mixed up my own lip balm and deodorant but have not delved into makeup at all. Now you have me thinking about putting madder root into lip balm.

    Cleaning tip

It’s a simple thing, but these little silicone sponges made my life a little easier so I thought I would share with you kind people. I bought them for dishes because I hate how sponges get moldy, turns out they are awful for that because there is hardly any abrasion to them, but they are great...

    People soap on dogs

Thanks for asking this. My mom was asking me about soap for her little white dog. I made her some plain olive and coconut oil soap because she has allergies and I think it might be ok for the dog too. He rolls in nasty things and the neighborhood cats love to leave presents in the yard. I’m...

    Odd look to my soap

Someone on another thread was describing a soap as “spongy” and this soap would fit that description, at least in appearance! I’ve fallen victim to the silicon rash myself, I was just a little too enthusiastic to make sure my soap gelled.

    Bubbles in soap

    Good to know, thank you!

    Bubbles in soap

Ok, so looking at the bars once I sliced them, I’m thinking Earlene might be right about the stearic spots. They are crazy tiny, like I can barely see them, so hopefully they don’t become more obvious as the bars cure. Pics of sliced bars attached. My RBO or the soap? I did CPOP so the soap...

    Bubbles in soap

Could this have to do with my sodium citrate not dissolving completely in my lye water? I can never seem to get it to completely dissolve. I’m using 3% PPO. Thanks for the link. I don’t think it looks like stearic spots, but it’s early to say. I sliced one piece off one of the loaves of soap...

    Bubbles in soap

This is kind of hard to search for because I don’t know if I should say they are spots or bubbles, and then bubbles are usually usually referring to a final product, so apologies if this is obvious! I’m getting bubbles lately, and the two major changes are 1. Sodium citrate and 2. RBO. I did...

Salycilate free or low salicylate help please!

I eat meat, I’ve nust been sticking to the lentils and rice since I was sure they worked for me. I had a massive migraine yesterday, probably because I made a scented soap. I’ll check out that site further, looks like a lot of good info. A few days ago I had eggs and had instant symptoms, so...

Salycilate free or low salicylate help please!

There is so much information out there, it’s very overwhelming, and not all of it is even in agreement. I’m just starting with mostly lists of what products are okay to eat and use for now, and I’ll keep on reading from there.

Salycilate free or low salicylate help please!

Please let me know if you figure it out. I’ll have to look at lectins. Fatigue is really hard on me. I’m eating mostly lentils and rice and oats the past few days and it’s lifting, but I also just stopped a salicylate medication a few days ago.
