    First Soap! Many things realized[emoji54]

:confused: But zap testing has nothing to do with PH testing...they are two totally different things. If you don't get a Zap, then your soap is SAFE from excess lye. You are always going to have high PH...it's just the nature of hand made soap. What are you meaning by still having...

    Curing Soap

I set mine up like dominoes on coated wire racks, with gaps between all of them for air circulation. I do not flip them, unless I happen to do so when moving them around to make more room on the shelves. At 4 to 6 weeks I put them into cardboard containers until wrapped to sell/gift. Also...

Do your labels actually say "Soap"?

Yep..."common sense" isn't all that common these days...gotta CYA.

    Lye Only?

Because lemon juice and vinegar won't start burning my flesh within minutes like lye will??? :???: Seriously though, I do use separate utensils for soaping and cooking. All my soaping tools that aren't stainless or glass, are RED...thank you Betty Crocker. :D

SMF March 2017 Challenge- Black Background Soaps

/sigh...well piffle. My stupid internet must have eaten my post...it didn't show up on the final entry thread. I had baby goats being born and nursing a sick one, was a bit distracted and remembered at the last minute. Oh well!! It didn't hold a candle to those that made the survey! You...

SMF September 2016 Challenge Entry Thread

Interesting technique, I'll be looking for a proper long spouted container to try it again. I used a paper towel roll and duct tape to create a spout on a normal mixing bowl, it worked but a bit messy overflowing. The white-ish bits on the bar are ground oatmeal...didn't get it ground quite...

    Newbie questions re: recipe

You are just about out of time for an October event, you need 4 to 6 weeks for your soap to cure before being ready. :(

Adding fragrance oil to cold process goat milk soaps?

All of my soaps are made with only raw goat milk as my liquid. I freeze my milk and add my lye in stages, about a quarter of it at a time, while continuously stirring. My lye solution rarely gets above 75 to 80 degrees. I heat my solid oils in the microwave, adding liquid oils after solids...
