Unfortunately, it was a little disappointing in the soap history department. It's more like a pamphlet, weighing in at a mere 16 pages. It doesn't mention any recipes at all. Soaphistory.com has most of this information already. It DOES have some really cool illustrations. Advertisements, etc...

I made some soap dough today. Green, Orange, Black and White. This is for a future project that I'm planning soon-ish. Some of the extra batter went into my Tardis/Dalek mold.

I'm a beginner so I'm just guessing here based on what I've read. That looks sort of like "alien brain." Caused by overheating during saponification. I'm guessing that microwaving it once saponification had already started is what caused it.

I agree with everyone up above. I would like to add though that many people love high olive oil soaps. It is especially useful if you have sensitive skin. Chemotherapy patients for instance. I like my high olive oil soap, but not at 100%. I always point new soapers to this Bastille recipe (70%...

I did a Bastille using Zany's Faux Seawater. I'm a beginner and this is probably the first time that I'm happy with the swirl on top. I also ordered a copy of "Soap Throughout the Ages" by R Lucock Wilson from 1952 to quench my thirst for soaping history.

Here it is just before popping in the oven for a brief CPOP. 70% Olive oil, 25% Coconut oil, and 5% Castor oil using Zany's faux seawater for the lye solution. Also to celebrate I just ordered a copy of "Soap through the Ages" by R. Lucock Wilson (c) 1952 which should quench my research thirst...

I cut up a confetti soap that I made a couple of days ago. I sacrificed a bar from a batch that didn't quite turn out like I wanted it and made soap curls out of it for the top. This probably wasn't a great idea as the bar was almost completely cured and it was difficult to make the curls...
