I’ve found great relief for itchy scalp with aloe vera. I’ve used gel (and fresh leaf) but imagine straight up juice, perhaps applied with fingertips to only coat the scalp, could be even better as there won’t be any residue.. it works immediately (for me, anyway)
Also I agree with the Gent...
Exactly, yes! I just love the endless possibilities. Soapmaking'll never get old!
So I've looked over my recipes and I've done
64% and 68% CO superfat 14%
62% 64% and 70% CO superfat 15%
69% 72% and 75% CO superfat 18%
and a real oddball with 62% CO and a whopping 18% superfat
so not as...
This is so true!
My 18-20% superfat is only in my very high CO soaps - I'm not suggesting you superfat at 18-20%, I am only sharing my own experience with it.
What I will suggest/encourage is that you do tons and tons of research of your own, take notes (yes, even note-taking of my...
Earlene you are sweet! Thank you so much for the encouragement :) It is fibers I have and I did buy them to make felted soaps (thinking I'd cover up eventual ugly soaps) but now...now I want them to be PRETTY! With flowers and sunshine and funny faces :p I know I'm doomed. Have to make room for...
Hi :) and welcome to the forum Shaz! HTH = hope to help and YMMV = your mileage may vary. I picked it up here as well :D
I have yet to try aloe vera in soap (or wait.. I did try it! in a new-years castille a couple of years back, but with castille being 100% OO it's just not for me, so haven't...
They are SO pretty!!! You are very talented Irpolillo! I with you cmzaha, I really do not need a new hobby.. But I know I have some felt somewhere..
(I'm doomed)
...or the (very obvious.. LOL! I didn't even think it! It was rather late here..) - lowering your coconut %age!! (and then back to a 'normal' SF around 3-5% ) will definitely help with the dry hands.
Thank you shunt :) I can never remember witch palm does what. I love me some lard! :D
Coconut...
I've never used palm, but I know one of them (PO or PKO) is like coconut - very cleaning (drying). I see in your new/untested recipes, you've upped the superfat - this will help and is key to a 'milder' soap.
Read up on the properties of your oils (not meaning 'soapcalc numbers') but learning...
I've played around with a couple of fairly high cocoa butter soap I liked a lot - actually my mother's husband's favorite; 27-30% cocoa butter, 6-10% castor and the rest coconut. They all turned out great, made 2 with cocoa and 3 (if I recall correctly) in the same realm, with shea replacing the...
Yes... there is the waiting part.. In the meantime I recommend making more soap :D
Your recipe looks really, really good! Congratulations :winner: And definitely try and stash a couple of bars away for way longer, to see the (very incredible IMHO) difference a really long cure does.
ETA: The...
Wait.. I’m confused, please help - is it all INCI:Tapioca starch? What’s the ‘modified Tapioca starch’ inci? Is it the same? (I have tapioca starch! No modification as far as I know )
Thanks y’all!
Hello and welcome to the forum :)
I haven't made bath bombs myself but I know of Sulfonated Castor Oil as a more 'natural' solubilizer, it's also called Turkey Red Oil. It's used in bath oils, room sprays, mist and so on. I don't know the product you mention. (And haven't made bath bombs ;))...
Yes! @Saffron that was exactly what I meant. I never got around to actually make it.. Thank you for catching that one :) (on purpose I don’t put any amounts or directions so ppl have to do research. I do love research. Especially soapmakingforum research. I just keep learning :))
Happy soaping...
