My first shaving soap is a success!

Thank you. I am using containers also for these experiments. I thought you/they were talking about the recipes with all the oil and butters. I'm interested in trying the 1st recipe with majority of the stearic acid and only coconut oil. All the recipes I've seen for this recipe call for...

My first shaving soap is a success!

DeeAna do you know why the water amount is so high for the first recipe discussed in the homeade shaving soap blog? Way more than 40% water and I'm wondering why. Another recipe (3rd) with a large amount of water. Why is so much water needed for these type of shave soaps? Does working with...

My first shaving soap is a success!

Going back to the original recipe page 1 by songwind there is no water amount used and I don't see a percentage. The reason I ask is because the recipe in HOmemade Shaving Soap blog that he bases his recipe on shows a great deal of water and I don't know why that would be so high. Ideas...

    My Lye water froze??

I would suggest not putting your lye solution into a ice water bath until it is thoroughly dissolved. I once got my solution too cold and heated it up a bit in the micro wave 10 seconds at a time.

Well I understatnd the need for the voting system passwords and such. I don't know who is in charge but appreciate everyone's efforts. My only suggestion would be an easier password I have fat fingers!

My ninth try moments ago worked. What a wonder. Yes it was case sensitive I was told it was a small letter, then I was told it was a capital letter and I tried them all copy and paste, typed by hand, written down and typed by hand again. So something worked hurray.

So 6 soaps were entered and 10 people have voted? Earlene and I can't seem to get logged in. Oh well. I have tried this in two different browsers and used any and all provided pass words so did each person get a different survey monkey sign in link? I have to wonder about the process and my...
