    Consistency Issue

Okay, I just made a batch. Tweaked my recipe and took temps. changed to 31% lye concentration, and changed my oil ratios a bit. coconut oil- 25% lard- 30% sunflower oil- 45% I still used 100% frozen goats milk (as experiment). The lye/milk mixture was 70*F when I mixed with oils, which were...

    Consistency Issue

I've admittedly not taken the temp of the batter, so I'm sure that's one step I will add when soaping. Could I simply do 50% water and 50% milk to fix that lard/water ratio? Or would that not work. Also, I freeze all my goats milk for the season so I can make it in the off season. Should I...

    Consistency Issue

I’m going to try using 25% water 75% milk. Do you think the milk/lye concentrate is too cool? Will try upping the soft oil percentage and liquid conc. to 38% as well. I just don’t understand I’ve been making it the same exact way for many years without issue. I’m trying to think of something...

    Consistency Issue

I'm having an issue with my soap all of the sudden. I've been using the same recipe for the last few years and have never had this happen. When combining the lye/water (in my case I sub 100% for frozen goats milk) with the oils, within 15-30 seconds it solidifies, kind of the consistency of...

    I have a few issues...

I pour at a thin trace because it's been taking 30-45 minutes to come to trace, and I've tried doing it longer and its burned up two stick blenders. I would rather pour at a thicker trace of course, but you can only stick blend fo so long before you realize there may be a problem. I thought...

    I have a few issues...

These are all fantastic tips! I really appreciate everyone’s feedback. I’m going to try a few of these and hope that it makes a harder bar. Thank you all so much

    I have a few issues...

I do use a stick blender. I had thought about it being maybe too cool when I pour. Does anyone have a better suggestion of oil ratio without changing the ingredients? I really like the lard and the coconut oil, but I'd be willing to change the sunflower oil to another type if t meant a harder...

    I have a few issues...

I'm having a few issues... 1) My soap takes a long time to trace (about 30-45 minutes after mixing oils/lye mix) 2) Some soaps won't peel out of the mold cleanly. I am using rectangle silicone molds. 3) Ideally I'd like a harder bar as the end product. My recipes are exactly the same EXCEPT for...

Soap turning white as it cures.

    Ok! Thanks!

Soap turning white as it cures.

I'm having a problem with my soap turning white on the parts that are exposed to air as it cures. When I initially take it out of the mold it's a normal color. But as it cures it starts to fade to white on the top and the sides is there something I'm doing (or not doing) to create this problem...

    Adding Aloe to recipe

I don't use any water in my recipe and normally melt the goats milk with the lye then Add my oils to that. Is there a reason you should add the aloe to the oil first? And also is there a particular reason to use 50% water too? I'd like to stick to all milk if I can

    Adding Aloe to recipe

I recently acquired an aloe plant. Id like to use a whole puréed leaf in a n approximately 4lb total soap recipe. I use goats milk instead of water. How much should I add and will it have any adverse affects on the soap?

    Looking for lotion recipe

I have made plenty of goats milk soap and have a pretty good grasp on that, but I wanted to branch out and try lotion with goats milk. I've googled recipes but I can't find one that I like. Does anyone have a basic goats milk lotion recipe that I could try. I'd like to eventually add fragrance...
