    Soap setting up too fast.

Update, and I hang my head in shame… All of the input on this has been helpful, applicable, and much appreciated but yesterday the idiot bell rang. Trying to do a repeat of the first small batch that worked out well was a complete disaster from the moment I started mixing. I will not bore you...

    Soap setting up too fast.

Watched the video and I wish I had seen it at the beginning. Thank you! Let me back everything up a bit, I’ve been good up to emulsion and off at identifying trace level. What I thought was a light trace was closer to medium and definitely to much stick time. Kind of a couldn’t see the forest...

Oh, and I never owned a SB before making soap. Got a killer KitchenAid setup with meat grinder, grain mill, and a driveshaft to run my wondermill.🤓

    Soap setting up too fast.

Do you let it rest 30 seconds before you get emulsion? Maybe not 30 seconds but once I reach a good emulsion (or what I think it’s a good emulsion) I will let it set a little bit, bump the SB (whixh I will stop doing), stir, and let set again. Kind of a sidebar…There’s a light directly over...

    Soap setting up too fast.

At the ball field cheering on my little slugger. I don’t remember the scent brands but they are made specifically for soap, doesn’t seem to make a difference which one, same results though. Now honey threw me a cuve big time, that was was a whole nother set of oh s(!?. I think the temp and using...

    Soap setting up too fast.

Several(6🙄) batches of soap accomplished with varying degrees of success. They may been an unintended color, ugly, honey threw a curve ball, or just a plain old OMG but…all of it turned into decent if not really nice soaps. Using first batch daily now and no itching so far. Made some liquid hand...

    First batch success…so far!

The color looks more orange in the picture, more pink in real life. Also leans more towards one or the other in different light. Using the color drops that came with the MP kit is a crapshoot and changes as curing progresses. I got some mica powders to play with so maybe I’ll get close to what...

    First batch success…so far!

Here’s the photographic evidence. The blue is the melt and pour my daughter did and the pink is the CP. It’s cured almost 3 weeks and I tried one of the test pieces. It’s soap! Didn’t notice anything negative and one positive…didn’t itch last night. Still used lotion this morning but for a first...

    Newton’s Third Law

Thx for the info, I can see now the lard may have contributed. Allot of little nuances to learn. Didn’t think about testing the old lard, to late now but the dogs enjoyed it on their dog food very much. The first thing I do when opening a jar of lard is give it a sniff. Normally it has no...

    Newton’s Third Law

Greetings gentile type persons knowledgeable in all things clean and pleasantly scented! Not to be beaten, I challenged the soap making gods once more, and was victorious…so far. Cab you tell I’m in a good mood? Fixed the recipe, drug out the magnetic blender the mix water, honey, scent, and...

    Newton’s Third Law

I had fishball soup, at least what I called it, in Canada visiting some Pilipino friends. Looked kinda funky but it was really good…should have never asked what was in it though. Update: I washed my hands with a little piece and it’s soap. I expected it to be greasy but nice feel and really...

    Newton’s Third Law

…this may be a no-no for shampoo and suck as a soap but it smells amazing. Didn’t have much of a scent until after I cut it and laid it out on the table. Surface is not as oily now and cool to the touch. Maybe it will cure out into something usable. Washed up the mold and dishes and it’s...

    Newton’s Third Law

I think the spreadsheet calculates a default discount based on the oils/fats used. There is a field to enter a discount that gets calculated into that default to reach an effective discount. I looked at the formula and allot going on there. I may be using the wrong terminology and...

    Newton’s Third Law

I have not read up on damage from shampoo bars other than seeing a side comment a few times, but will do so. I can see how improperly made or hi cleansing soap could cause problems but doubt irreparable harm? Allot of variables there.
