What made you pick your avatar/ username?!

I mentioned this back in my introduction thread. My name is Stephen, and anyone with this name has said, "Stephen with a PH," countless times. As I was meandering through the internet one day, I ran across this image and it tickled my fancy. The caption read, my friend was asked for his name at...

Feedback on recipe for sensitive skin

Ah. Well dang it. It is still in the mold. I checked it yesterday and it was a little soft yet. I wad going to check it again today. You're exactly right. I used that setting in the soapcalc website. I appreciate the feedback. I'll let it set in the mold for a bit and see what happens...

Feedback on recipe for sensitive skin

Ok. First, I hope the formatting is okay. It looks a lot better in the editing window, but the html is removing tabs and extra spaces. Based on the feedback, I have a couple of variations. Using the 40/10/50 idea, I came up with the following: # √ Oil/Fat % 1 Coconut...

Feedback on recipe for sensitive skin

Not sure. I know she’s very sensitive to wool / lanolin. I am pretty sure that coconut oil will be bad, based on what I read, but I’m hoping that at 10% it will not trigger a reaction. Right now, she uses a dove bar of some kind. I don’t believe she’s ever tried hand made soaps. I’ve...

Thanks. I’m definitely not going for slimy and I would like soap before next Christmas. I’ll try lard.

Feedback on recipe for sensitive skin

All, my wife has very sensitive skin, and I’d like to make her some soap. I want to get it right, because she will be very unhappy if her skin gets dry, itchy or rashy. I can’t imagine why. :) So, I’m going to make a CP soap and have been playing around on soapcalc.net. Please let me...

Tips for White soap on purpose?

After reading more and thinking, I would like to try making a soap that is black and white. It’s just for me and my family, so it doesn’t need to be perfect. I was thinking of using activated charcoal to help wit the black, and arrowroot for the white. Does this sound like it would work...

    Beard oil recommendations?

To the guys who have beards, how do you clean your beards? Do you use soap or shampoo? Conditioner? A good beard oil is only part of the formula.

    Beard oil recommendations?

That is a great article. I use beard oil every day, but have never considered making my own. I’m definitely going to try a few of these recipes. These beard oils are very expensive. Edit: reading the article through again, I got a kick out of the typo in the header for the recipes...

    Another HP vs CP thread

Lol. I’m glad. Apparently, I only fret about whether I appear to be fretting. So, just a quick note. If I like the amount of smell I get in a hp recipe, I’ll need to use more EO in the equivalent CP recipe. Is that correct?

Good to know! What is DOS? I presume you aren’t talking about a disk operating system.

    Another HP vs CP thread

I just read an article on this another poster shared. Really interesting, and I’m very curious how my initial batches improve with age. I am also going to try these same recipes as a cold process, just to see how they look. Pretty soap isn’t my primary goal, but if I can make it look...

    Another HP vs CP thread

Easy now. I didn’t say I required instant gratification. And I’m not sure how I might have given the impression I’m fretting about anything. I really hope that’s not how I’m coming across. Certainly not my intention. I appreciate your insights and really like the idea of small batches.
