    DeeAnna's Milk in Soap Information

I've been on Badger & Blade since 2008. You ask 10 different guys a question there, and you'll get 15 different answers. That's just one thread, on one shave forum. There are many, many others. You just can't find them by searching on milk. The problem is that you're still locked into the "Milk"...

Oh, I didn't take it that way at all! My apologies if I came across that way. :) I've read many of your posts here, and learned a lot from them.

    DeeAnna's Milk in Soap Information

I've read that thread from post one all the way to the end. Took me two weeks. I've been making soap since the first of February, and have made soap literally every day since. My record is seven batches in one day. I make batches that are 100 grams total oils. I have extremely accurate scales...

    DeeAnna's Milk in Soap Information

Yes, equipment counts a lot. I left out *a lot* of the specifics of getting a good wet shave, and tried to focus on just one product... soap. I'm afraid if I included all the necessary information regarding *all* of the things necessary, it would have resulted in such a long post, no one would...

    DeeAnna's Milk in Soap Information

You might want to get him some samples of some of the better artisan soaps. Since you are in Australia, you might want to consider the artisan Australia Private Reserve. While I haven't tried their products personally, they are highly regarded on the shaving forums.

    DeeAnna's Milk in Soap Information

So why the dissertation on men's shaving? I'm hoping that when guys come to this forum looking for help in improving their shaving soap recipes, participants here can offer help with an understanding of what they are trying to accomplish with their soap recipes. The responses I have received so...

    DeeAnna's Milk in Soap Information

I'm going to pull the curtain of "Things Women Don't Know About Men's Grooming" back an inch, and give you a peek. At least, in regards to shaving. For this discussion, we'll be talking about guys that use a typical cartridge shaver, like a Mach 3, Fusion, etc. You know the ones... little...

We will account that to language differences... That remark was aimed toward those who did make such references, not you.

    DeeAnna's Milk in Soap Information

There is a very large difference between using a soap to clean a body part with versus using it to help drag a razor sharp blade down the sensitive face skin. And these artisans DID NOT become popular BECAUSE THEY USED MILK, they became popular BECAUSE OF THE PERFORMANCE of their soaps. When...

    DeeAnna's Milk in Soap Information

After further research, I found out that some guys were doing it as I described in my most recent post. It’s not easy to time, though, as the melting point for the stearic is so high. I’m sorry you still don’t understand. I explained it as well as I could. Guess you’ll just have to stay confused.

    DeeAnna's Milk in Soap Information

@SoaperForLife @Ladka This is one of those "you'd have to try it to believe it" situations. The majority of the most popular shaving soap artisans are now using at least one type of milk. Some artisans are using multiple milks. The face feel during the shave with a milk soap is exceeded only...

    DeeAnna's Milk in Soap Information

Yeah, I love that page, but sadly the link to her milk information isn't there. :( Found it! For anyone needing to determine saponification values from nutrition labels, including those on dairy products, it's right here.

    DeeAnna's Milk in Soap Information

Heya everyone, Recently, I came across information on how to use milk in soap making that was written by @DeeAnna . It was great stuff, including information on how to figure out how much lye to add, etc. But alas... amongst my 100+ open browser tabs, I can no longer find it. I thought I'd...

My first shaving soap is a success!

OK, I know this is an older post, but @Misschief is sill active here, so... Let's talk briefly about clay. Before we do, I know how polarizing this subject is, and hope I don't start a "clay wars." Some guys love it, others hate it, and yes, it is certainly possible to make fantastic shave soap...

My first shaving soap is a success!

I spent over a week chasing the various pure stearic acids. I finally gave up. Soy wax is 87% stearic acid, and makes for fine shaving soap. Great replacement for stearic acid, and it doesn't saponify instantly. It also kicks off glycerin, so you don't have to add as much (or any, really) as you...
