    Dog Soap?

I haven't made a dog soap in years, and kept it all for myself because it was really wonderful. I still use it on my dogs. I can't find the recipe, only the ingredients. I probably superfatted at 8 percent. Oils of olive, rice bran, avocado, castor. Shock Top Ale infused with marshmallow root...

    Salt Bars

I order my salts from San Francisco Saltworks too. I also make an activated charcoal facial salt bar with Dead Sea mud, extra activated charcoal, goat milk, CO, Avocado, Castor oils, scented with tea tree, lavender and just a little peppermint. My best batches were when I let a 10-pound bag of...

    Salt Bars

I make only salt bars, with fine Pacific sea salt and don't have any problems with scratchiness and have never had a complaint. I also would not use even fine Pink Himalayan salt, used to make those and even at five years they're still scratchy.

Anyone know of any good wholesale supplier for essential oils?

I misspoke. I've never used NOW essential oils, it was Sun essential oils that seized on me every time. Rosemary, fir needle, peppermint, even lavender. I keep them around for purposes that aren't soap.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I'm still in non-soaping mode for a few more days. Made more lavender and eucalyptus, and lemongrass litsea emulsified sugar scrubs. This time I halved the cetyl alcohol and made up the difference with extra mango butter. Added a little more emulsifying wax to cut down on the oiliness. Also cut...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Beautiful! Here's the recipe I use, it's a half batch, I can't remember where I found the recipe, maybe Soap Queen 132 g avocado oil 60 g cocoa butter 30 g butter of your choice (I use mango or coffee butter) 30 g cetyl alcohol (or use 30g mango or other butter if you don't want the cetyl...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Have sixty bars of salt soaps curing for their second month, will sell when they're at least three months cured. Switched gears last week and have been making emulsified sugar scrubs (lavender eucalyptus, lemongrass, and sweet orange so far). Totally in love with emulsified sugar scrubs. Today...

Anyone know of any good wholesale supplier for essential oils?

I've had good luck with Green Health (wfmed), Nature's Garden and New Directions Aromatics. WFMed has great prices and extremely fast shipping. Be sure to check the reviews, I really didn't like a few, including Rosemary. For lavender, fir needle, tea tree and eucalyptus they are my go to...

    Hand Sanitizer

Aloe vera gel is impossible to get in stores right now, luckily I had a stash. When I run out I'll use 99.8 percent pure aloe vera juice, found a gallon jug for under $8 at Walmart. I'm using 2/3 420 Extractor ($26 for 1.75 liters) as a substitute for Everclear which is impossible to find in...

Eeek! Does anybody actually use with this oil!

I LOVE patchouli! One of my favorite blends is Dalmation sage, lime and patch. It sells really well too.

Might have to rethink my opinion on salt bars

I make a black salt soap with fine black Hawaiian salt, Dead Sea mud, Aussie black clay and activated charcoal. They are black! Tea tree and lavender EOs, fresh pumpkin puree and coconut milk. I can't keep these in stock, by far my best selling soap.

    Grittiness in products with butters

I stopped using shea butter in lip balms and lotion bars dues to grittiness. I use babassu or mango butter, beeswax, avocado/jojoba, vitamin e and sweet orange or lavender essential oil mostly, and never have had that problem again even after 6 months to a year.

Seawater, sea salt, brine bars, salt bars... Soap scum? DOS?

I use fine sea salt (San Francisco Salt Company) and much prefer it to plain old grocery sea salt for extravagant lather and silky smooth texture. Also trying an experiment in curing. I live on the dry Western Slope of Colorado with lots of sunshine, and have been putting them out on a black...

My Coconut Milk Soap - Fail (Sadness)

Haven't posted in forever! Did you use fragrance or essential oil? If so, that could be the problem with seizing, depending on what you use. I use canned coconut milk in all my CP soaps, split half and half with distilled water. I also like to use half regular coconut milk and half lite. I use...
