    A breakthrough!

Changed supplier basically :D But also blended, blended and blended, split it for colors, blended again, let it sit for a few minutes, blended again, sit again, blended then prayed! I don't get half the same drama from the scents from the other supplier so I plan to just stick to them if I can...

    A breakthrough!

Thank you! They are supermarket delivery trays and I have an endless supply of them. They stack nicely and keep the soap below dark but ventilated

    A breakthrough!

This is last night's soaping. The Gingerbread men and the blue soap were FOs from this supplier and actually this morning seem to not behaved quite as badly as I expected so maybe I'm getting somewhere!?

    A breakthrough!

I'm in the UK. The ones I struggle to work with are from the soap kitchen I do 40% lard, 20% OO, 20% coconut oil, 15% mango butter and 5% castor oil. Have no problems using FOs from another supplier

    A breakthrough!

I've now had 2 batches fail completely and 1 looking very suspect and I've discovered the cause - all 3 use scents from the same supplier. So for whatever reason, this supplier + my recipe = problems and so I'm going to try soaping without using them and see if that is the fix. I also tried a...

    What went wrong?!

Fairies were poured from what was left of the red mix right at the end. From another forum it seems I added the lye to the milk too quickly. I was stick blending for about 15m all in, stopping to mix it inbetween. Used cold milk but the oils were pretty warm as I was too impatient to wait for...

    What went wrong?!

First attempt at a milk soap..what's gone wrong?! Have used the soap dye before but in purple and it behaved (although did go funny colors at first as per my previous thread). Only new add in otherwise is some Castor oil along with the milk. Milk was frozen and at thick slushy when mixed with...

    Ambitious newbie wants to run

my recipe is lard, olive oil, coconut butter, mango butter and castor oil going from largest to smallest amounts. When I added the FO to the hanger swirl batch it did accelerate but I am going to repeat doing it as suggested on other thread to see if changes how quickly -if not, I know what to...

    Ambitious newbie wants to run

So I have 3 batches of soap under my belt now. I'm 90% happy with my 3rd recipe after taking on advice from a bunch of places but I know there is always room to improve it so 4th batch will have a tiny tweak and then I expect to be 99% happy with it - I do still have at least a fortnight to wait...

    learning lessons people tell you!
