    I’ve just made my first batch of seasalt soap and discovered it goes crumbly pretty quickly, so next time I’ll make it individual moulds. As I haven’t used it yet can you tell me what’s so good about salt soap? What’s SF?

    What OO do you use for your soap?

    I usually use a supermarket ‘light in colour’ olive oil which is a blend of EVOO and regular OO. Has a lovely feel to the soap and a creamy colour. When using oils likely to tint the batter I add 1tbsp of white kaolin clay powder to neutralise that greenish undertone. Clay powders are also...

    High temperatures are the enemy of natural colorants- try blending at lower temperature & preventing gel phase by freezing

    Additives

    I’ve used carrot juice successfully to tint soap, although it fades after a few months. To stop it turning brown through overheating in CP, I chilled in the freezer to prevent the gel phase.
