    PALM OIL

Lye No, they're not. I was giving an example of how I include other factors, and not just price, to determine what suppliers I use. I've never had a reason to try AAA, because I'm happy with my current supplier. Now, when I start to sell and produce more soap, AAA may become an option for...

Lye Click the name below! :D Certified Lye. I think everyone pays the same shipping, though. So for you, AAA may be bettter.

    PALM OIL

True That's the bottom line. Plus, I don't always go for "cheapest". There are other other variables that may cause me to prefer one supplier over another. My food-grade lye supplier is not the cheapest, but I "love my lye". I love the quality, the way it's packaged, the fast shipment (from...

    PALM OIL

Pricing Well, folks can go to the site, and look at the prices. That's what I do. Shipping is often what gets ugly with online shopping. OBN is close to me — I'm in Michigan, they're in Ohio. So, I can usually get my stuff in a day (depending on when I order, not counting weekends), and the...

    soapmaking without lye?

SADD Yes, we could! I didn't catch that! Hey Traci! The lye is dissolved in the water (adding the lye to the water), to make a lye solution. Some soapers soap with hot lye water, using the heat to melt the oils, which is called RTCP (Room Temperature Cold Process). You can also let...

    soapmaking without lye?

Children Sorry, my original post was for moms with kids. What everyone else said: Respect lye. Don't soap sleepy, angry, distracted or drunk. You'll be fine.

    I'm getting so frustrated....

...and that's the key. If what you're (anyone) doing works, then work it. If not, then work with it, till it works.

    Quality of oils

Oils I've soaped with Pomace grade and EVOO. I didn't notice any difference in the quality of the soap. I use Pomace.

    Island Pear Soap

RTCP (heat transfer), done with a 33% lye solution, and 1.25 ounces of sodium lactate added to help harden (faster) and eliminate stickiness. I soap 50/50 hard/soft oils, and this is my RBO recipe (with no OO). It's a great recipe, but it normally needs to sit in the mold, longer that 24 hours...

    I'm getting so frustrated....

Failed Batches Hmmm...I'm sorry about that. Don't give up! A few things: I've been soaping, since October of last year, so I don't have many years under my belt, but I've only had two failed batches of soap — God has been VERY good to me, and I READ A LOT. I've soaped quite a few...
