I don't use a specific ratio, I just cut off some fibers and throw them in my lye water after all the lye is dissolved ... once I have my oils ready they've usually broken down and mix right in. I usually make a 4 pound batch and my silk fibers are about the size of a cotton ball or a tad bit...

If you have a salad shooter you can put your chunks there and make your own flakes. I put it in the freezer so it doesn't melt from the friction of the shooter.

I feel your pain. I was cleaning my stick blender a few years ago and it was still plugged in ... I accidently hit the switch and chopped up two of my fingers pretty badly. Thankfully my daugher was home and she called my sister to come take me to the ER.
UGH I followed the tutorial and attempted to make a stamp ... I just went to check on it and the tape was not secure enough around the soap so most of the resin seeped out ... I tried to scoop as much of it back in as I could and press the duct tape around the soap ... we'll see how it goes from...
I had the same problem so I started using a mini wisk to mix my natrasorb with a enough oil to make a pourable slurry to insure it was all incorporated, then as I'm whipping the main batch I pour the slurry in ... no more lumps!
