I've only salted out soap and added more lye to take out the excess oils to use for laundry soap. It was a yucky pepto bismulth color soap when finished. But it worked just fine for laundry.
Not to be afraid of lye! I mean yes, it's dangerous and you need to protect yourself, but it's really no more dangerous than say driving somewhere....you know? I was so scared the first time!
Next I would say using silicone instead of lining molds...that's a huge pain.
Well, yesterday marked my 3 years of soap making! I have not been active on the SMF, @caracara mentioned my absence So here I am! Here is my first batch of soap verses the 2 I made yesterday to celebrate! 1st batch was plain old generic Crisco soap. Other 2 are milk soaps, one will be a combo...
I just canceled my order, I got a better price at Soapers Choice on beeswax and castor than I did on the sale...the WSP rep said that they were supposed to get all the orders out by Saturday.
I haven't gotten a response yet...my BA order came fast, but I was shorted in my Shea butter and essential oil. Called them yesterday and I have notification already that it is coming!
