    Skin care for babies

My son has eczema and it was pretty serious when he was a baby so I have a different outlook on baby skin care. Less is more. Fill the basket with the gentlest baby wash you can find, an unscented baby lotion, and some butt paste (we tried Baby Bordreaux but preferred regular old A&D ointment)...

Why are weddings so expensive? And people crazy!?

Add me to the list of people who opted out of a large, costly wedding. DH and I are both uncomfortable being in the spotlight and neither of us wanted a big fuss. We invited out parents and our four closest friends to watch us get married by our town mayor. Afterwards we took everyone out for a...

    Trying something different...

I like your recipe but I think you should try it with and without the Shea and see which version you like better. Using Shea would probably make it super creamy (or maybe too creamy depending on your preference). I make a really nice soap for my young son that is CO free and has a wonderful...

So fed up with my soaps...

Absolutely! Sometimes you need a success, ANY success, to get rid of bad mojo. Also, I bet your soaps are fabulous even though your designs didn't turn out as planned. My second favorite soap was a complete design fail that turned out so cool and got tons of compliments and attention. People...

    What EO pairs with sandalwood?

I use a blend of rose and sandalwood that is a beautiful and feminine scent (2 parts rose and 3 parts sandalwood).

    Question about older soaps

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss Gigi, please accept my heartfelt sympathies. I have not had to store soaps together for longer than a week so I don't have experience with permanent scent mingling or transfer. The bars that were stored together did have some mingling but they were all...

    Latest high lard soap

Love those lard bars! I love a simple, creamy soap. The poppy seeds are such a nice contrast with the white soap, very visually appealing.

    Checking In

Your uncle is so lucky to have such a dedicated person advocating for him. Kudos to you for seeking a second opinion. I'm glad that they figured out what was wrong so he can start to mend. Congratulations on your first show and your upcoming second show! Your son sounds like a sweet...

    Crying salt bars

I've had the "crying salt bar" problem too when it's humid. I bought some DampRid and moved our small dehumidifier upstairs for a few days to help them dry out faster. I've just been using the DampRid for a while now and haven't seen any more tears.

    Immersion/stick blender choice

This is the stick blender that I use. The stainless steel mixer detaches which helps a lot during cleanup BUT I find that I have to be really careful and/or tap tap tap to make sure I don't get lots of air bubbles due to the shape of the bell (the bell also tends to suction to the bottom of the...

    Latest high lard soap

TEG, the color looks so nice and creamy. The soap with the seeds actually looks lighter to me because of the contrast with the seeds. It will be interesting to see if the color changes. Did you use whole or ground seeds? I've made a scrubby soap with 1 tbs ppo of whole poppy seeds and it was...
