CP soap on the slant technique?

Thanks all. I think I'll try it this weekend all in one day if I can get my husband to occupy the little one for that long. I'll post photos and hopefully they won't turn out to be eternal evidence of my soaping failures  You think I should use a fairly "hard bar" recipe? Or any recipe...

CP soap on the slant technique?

Genny, thank you so much for your advice! If you have a blog or youtube channel I seriously recommend posting a tutorial on diagonal layers. There are so many amazing diagonal layered soap pictures on Pinterest and it's like Google knows nothing about it :( Automatic page one! :)

CP soap on the slant technique?

Do you mean like stick the whole thing in the oven for an hour (ala CPOP) after all the layers are poured? That seems like it would work...but would I need to refrigerate after each layer to prevent gel when doing them the same day THEN CPOP?

CP soap on the slant technique?

I'll definitely try it asap and report back with pictures :) DW, do I not need to worry about the layers adhering together? I just assumed I'd have to do multiple batches because I imagined the soap would harden up too much to pour after waiting for the previous layer to set up enough to...

CP soap on the slant technique?

Anyone know how this slant techniqe is done with CP? I imagine it would be pretty easy to use MP soap for the slants, but I'm thinking CP soap might need to wait a day before pouring each layer. Would I need to do something special to make sure the layers adhere to each other when cutting? I...

Super quick trace...am I doing something wrong?

Update: On Wednesday after I posted this, I tried a recipe using what I had on hand (even though it sounds like Olive Oil Pomace traces more quickly!) which was this: Coconut Oil 20% Olive Pomace 65% Palm 15% (I actually added a tiny bit of Castor too, I think 1.5 oz in my 2 lb batch) I was...

    Recipe help?

Thanks for the help everyone! I ended up using Coconut Oil 20% Olive 65% Palm 15% And I did throw in 1.5 oz Castor oil to superfat my 2lb batch. It turned out really well! The bars are all cut up and curing nicely, albeit a bit mangled from cutting the first few bars top down through the...

    Recipe help?

Perfect! I think I'll use this one from above: Coconut Oil 20% Olive 65% Palm 15% And I totally just found some leftover Castor oil!! I have about 2 ounces, so I'll probably throw that one in too :) Thank you for all you help!

    A Soapy Success Story...with Pics!

Gorgeous!! Is that a hanger swirl I see in the lavender/white soap in the back?

    Recipe help?

Hi there! Does anyone mind helping me figure out a good recipe (approximate percentages are fine) for what I have on hand? I'd love to not have to go out and buy more oil, but I'm not opposed to picking up 16 oz of something from New Seasons if it will dramatically help my recipe. I have a soap...

Super quick trace...am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for the replies everyone! I have to run to work right now so I don't have time to reply in full to everyone, but I'll be home later this evening to update and let you know how a 90-100F straight castile soap goes. Thanks again!!

Super quick trace...am I doing something wrong?

Thank you, Dana, that was really helpful- and the video is awesome! I can totally do that. To answer your questions: Are you using fragrance oils? This last one I did used a Karma type fragrance oil and Orange EO, but I've had the same results with Tea Tree EO / Peppermint EO as well as...

Super quick trace...am I doing something wrong?

Hi there! I'm new to CP soap making (3 batches under my belt) and with every recipe I've tried my batch moves REALLY quickly. I don't know, maybe it's not that fast (2 minutes or less) but from the books I have it seems like I should reach a light trace in closer to 5-10 minutes. Is that right...
