weird question about soaping and tongues

Are you licking the soap (i.e.: doing a zap test?) I have never had any tongue issues but I don't use the zap test I test the PH with strips or a meter. Other than that I wouldn't expect your tongue to react from soap-making.

Just finished my second batch and I think there is a problem

The white patchiness could be excess lye, but it could be one of the benign problems too, like soda ash, stearic acid, poorly mixed titanium dioxide or other colours, etc. To be sure that the soap is safe always test the PH. You can buy litmus paper from eBay for under $2 or you can buy a PH...

Have you tried the wholeport.com micas? How is the quality? Do you have any pictures of your soap project containing a wholeport mica? Many thanks

    URGENT HELP REQUEST: Colouring

It failed. I only used 1 drop of a D&C blue dye but it was not clear at all. Oh well. I also dusted the rose-shaped muffin mould cavities with blue mica.

    URGENT HELP REQUEST: Colouring

I'm making my first ever transparent lye & alcohol soap. I've been doing it for about 3 hours but I'm not sure how to add the micas - do I just sprinkle it in or do I need to premix it with oil, water, or alcohol so that it doesn't clump? Thanks

    Lush godmother soap

I love rock star. I am in Australia and use different suppliers so I can't comment (sorry). I just ordered lolly shoppe and fairy floss from Aussie Candle Supplies. In the bottle they smell heavenly - let's see how it smells in CP.

    Etsy shop

Just curious, have your sales increased since you implemented the suggestions? I have not started selling my soaps and I'm wondering if an etsy listing is a good idea/waste of time. I agree with hmlove regarding ingredients lists. I prefer: "Ingredients: coconut oil, palm oil, rice bran oil...

Your secret to making the scent stick?

I know the basics of soap storage to keep the smell in. I was wondering about "anchoring" the scent. I've heard that if you use a "base note" fragrance like patchouli it will anchor a top note. Is that true? I like citrus oils like sweet orange. Do fragrance oils stick better? Do they need...

    Grocery store vs. Soap Supply

I buy oils from the supermarket because it's more cost-effective. Delivering many KGs of oils by mail is expensive but picking up a 4 Ltr drum of olive oil from the shop isn't. :)

Do you strain your lye solution?

I've never strained the Lye but I generally make batches under 1KG of oils.

RED Silicone Mold Bleeding Color Onto Soap

I have two newish red silicone moulds and neither of them have ever bled onto my soaps and I've made at least 6 batches with one of the two moulds. They're nothing special brand-wise, I just bought them for $3 each from the reject shop (Australia). I'd complain/send the moulds back to the shop.
