I am trying to formulate a recipe for my grandparents. Here is what I'm thinking for ingredients:
Palm 40%
Cocoa butter 25%
Olive 20%
Coconut oil 10%
Castor 5%
SF 5%
LC 33%
I was going to add coconut milk for half my water content. No fragrance. Also was thinking of adding...
Good to know! I tried it once and I think I remember overall it went well, but had to soap at a higher temp? I like soaping around room temp, which is usually around 80F where I live. I may give it a try again.
Wouldnt this be a soft over drying bar? Do you superfat?
A little late to this thread, but ive been wanting to make a harder bar with no palm and no animal fats. I’ve tried in the past but the bars still were too soft. Any suggestion? I was thinking maybe up the coconut oil and superfat…use...
Ahh thank you. Yes I wasn't sure the amount of NaoH needed for my oils. Yes the confetti soap was an idea I also had :) As long as its safe to use! I appreciate you <3

Im on the soda ash struggle as well. I usually do not get ash if I pour at a thicker trace, but I notice I get it more when Im trying to do swirls or some design that requires a lighter trace. Today I unmolded and cut my lavender bar and had quite a lot of ash, im thinking due to light trace...
Just wondering what is the main reason to have it cure longer? I’ve asked other salt bar makers how long they cure their bars for, and they said 4-6 weeks.
