    Grrr...stearic acid spots

That’s my problem, it doesn’t matter what recipe I use. I’ve used pretty much a million (only slight exaggeration) combinations of coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, avocado oil, castor oil...I’ll pull a couple of pictures when I get home tonight, and good tip about TD, thanks!

    Grrr...stearic acid spots

Hello, I've hit rock bottom. I was making soap with palm oil and getting stearic acid spots. So I stopped using palm oil. It didn't fix the problem, every recipe I use gets stearic acid spots. I'm heating everything up above 150 degrees before I let it cool to about 125-130 for mixing with...

Tiny bumps on cut soap face

I’ll keep that in mind, in this case I used nothing but water and oils and the vanilla fragrance which discolored the batch.

Tiny bumps on cut soap face

I was heating to the hard oils until melted and then mixing the hard and soft and making sure it was around 125 and mixing with the lye. I will definitely try heating them up more. And I’ll try a picture again tonight. Thank you hank you!

Tiny bumps on cut soap face

I do use a wire cutter! I’ll try planing them. I don’t use milk or clay yet, but I’ll make sure I let them sit longer before cutting, I can just hardly stand waiting, cutting is the best part I think.

Tiny bumps on cut soap face

I've made a few batches now, two different recipes that have developed tiny bumps on the face after cutting. Nothing on the top. They both went through partial gel, the bumps seem solid, not pockets of liquid and they're tiny, but bigger than grainy. I tried to get a picture but I can't seem...

What to do with a batch that you fragranced poorly?

It’s 2 weeks old now. I’ll keep holding on then, it is so lovely, the palest yellow with a subtle white swirl...thank you!

What to do with a batch that you fragranced poorly?

I made a batch of soap that turned out beautifully except that I used cocoa butter in it and then used a white tea and ginger fragrance oil. It smells so bad that I can’t give it away. I learned my lesson there, make sure the fragrance fits with the ingredients! Anyways, do you have any ideas...

    Can MP seize?

Well, that makes me feel better and worse at the same time! My thermometer was reading 144 degrees but I did dump the 2nd part in at room temp and my dear sweet husband keeps the house between 60 and 65. I kind of just kept going cold and packed it in the molds rather than trying to reheat...

    Can MP seize?

I was making a sugar scrub soap recipe with Stephenson’s crystal clear melt and pour soap and when I melted it and added glycerin and sweet almond oil it went solid. I’m not very experienced with melt and pour, I usually do cp so I’m a bit at a loss. What crazy thing did I do?!!!? I thought...
